My roommate has David West on his fantasy team as well as chris paul, and we have nba league pass. So needless to say there is a lot of hornets games going on here. David West has to be the most painful guy to watch play. I swear the guy gives no effort defensively or on the glass. I dont think ive seen him box out all year, and its not uncommon for him to just stand there if hes not involved offensively. I was wondering what hornets fans thought of this guy.
Its pretty embarrassing how Chris Paul is almost an equal rebounder.

He hasn't been the same player this year that he was last year, I agree. Maybe hes bummed about his contract? Maybe theres less of a point to prove for some of these guys this year, maybe it'll improve towards the end of the season. Either way hes still a great player, just not showing it right now.

Re: David Westesque performance
I agree about his rebounding, but I think he does a good job defensively for the most part. His rebounding rate as a college player and his first few years was much better, but how much is that attributed to playing so far from the basket now, and how much is actual effort?

Good enough to be a all-star though.

Which is quite a joke.
Sorry to say that, but there are more players deserving than him. Even Paul Millsap.

Al Jefferson, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Millsap, Mehmet Okur, Kevin Durant, and Nene are all players I would have put in the all star game before David West...
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

You guys can carry ya'lls whining a**es out of here with that. Don't be p*ssed off at West because the coaches voted him in. Be p*ssed off at the coaches. I admit I was surprised he made it as well but only because his numbers are slightly down from last season although not tremendously but what exactly qualifies as "deserving"? Obviously the coaches that watch him thought he was "deserving".
Some coaches vote for players on winning teams and some don't mind if a player is on a winning team or not.
As far as Millsap goes, I agree a case could have been made for him too but some people understand why West may have been selected over Millsap.

Cases can be made for quite a few guys but as always, somebody will be "snubbed" and their fans will be p*ssed about it. Happens every year. This year is nothing new. Hate the coaches, not West.

Still, it's tough to argue with the coaches' final 14 choices, 13 of which NBA.com's John Schuhmann and Dave McMenamin predicted correctly last week. McMenamin had the only misstep. Millsap lost out on a spot to New Orleans' David West (pictured above).
While some may quibble with the selection of the Hornets' 6-foot-9 forward, he is averaging 20.0 points per game compared to Millsap's 15.6 a game. Add in the fact that the Hornets are five games better than the Jazz and you can see why the coaches turned their eyes toward West.

Eff Millsap, that was Al-Jeff's spot.

Re: David Westesque performance
We have seen quite a few David Westesque performances from the man himself in the first round of the playoffs. It looked like he was making a complete 180 the weeks after I posted this. Now hes back to his first half of the season no rebounding, no defense, low percentage shooting self. For some reason though a lot of people have held this guy in really high regard, as evident of his all star selection.
I was talking to my friend earlier in the season whom had this bum on his fantasy team stinking up the joint on a daily basis. We both came to an agreement that Troy Murphy would be awesome with the Hornets.
Not only that, but because West has some mysterious high value, you could probably con them into giving you guys draft picks as well.
