Joe Johnson free agent 2010!!!

Post#1 » by wadero » Thu Jan 29, 2009 3:00 pm

This is the guy we sign to replace Tmac. We will hopefully be a player in free agency in 2010 and Joe is the guy we should go after!!!

Nah, IMO if injuries continue to strike Yao and we get NO playoff success this year and next, blow this roster up--rebuild for the future.

Depends on trades we make between now and then, and what direction the team wants to go in. I think we will try Wade and/or Bosh. Due to age, but who knows.

In the 2010 Offseason:
Johnson: 29.
Wade: 28.

We'd probably be looking to build, which is most easily done with young guys, veteran role players, and maybe a final big splash FA signing or two. Plus, Wade has an injury history. We'd no sooner sign him than Portland sign Artest and Pacman Jones a year or two ago.
Morey 2020.

Wade turned 27 a couple of weeks ago, while Johnson won't turn 28 till after the NBA Finals.

This roster is too injury prone. Yao is too injury prone to build around. Before T-Mac fell off..there were 3 years there that if we just had better luck with injuries in we could have contended for a title without Artest. With just McGrady, Yao and shooters. But injuries held us back. Last year...the year before...and the year before that.

This isn't about re-tooling. This about rebuilding. This team needs to begin to put plans in place to rebuild and I am sure they are doing that.

A lot can happen between now and 2010, but I don't think Morey will make any major shakeups to make us a player in the FA market unless we end up underachieving again by next season's trade deadline.

The thing that upsets me about that is that Scola's going to be oldish by the time we get any serious retooling in place. Sucks.

We will have quite a bit of Money coming off the books with Rafer, Tmac, Barry, and Hayes all leaving or not being resigned. So we will be making a splash in 2010, but we will need someone to back up Brooks at PG we will need to replace Tmac and hopefully by then we will have a young center to back up Yao!!!!

No point in JJ, rebuild if we continue what we've done till 2010.

In 2010 the Rockets will go after Bosh,Wade and Johnson in that order.(Unless LeBron gets tired of placing behind Dwight in All-Star voting :) )

the difference in injury between tmac and yao is quite different.

yao has much better recovery rate. he still is yao. his shooting and scoring still are good.
he still commands the doubleteam nights in/out. not many people are willing to single cover
him in the post. opponent dare rockets shooters to make shots.

tmac since returning from injury, he can't shoot, can't dunk, and he primarily is relying on
jumpers. he said he 'feels' like his oldself. but after one game, he's out again with injury.
