0-4, Deron misses All-Star game again

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 11:27 pm

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns

Yahoo! Sports obtained the rosters, and the West reserves also include the Los Angeles Lakers’ Pau Gasol, New Orleans Hornets’ David West, Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker, Denver Nuggets’ Chauncey Billups and Portland Trail Blazers’ Brandon Roy.

The East reserves include two Orlando Magic, Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis. East coaches also chose the Boston Celtics’ Paul Pierce, Atlanta Hawks’ Joe Johnson, Toronto Raptors’ Chris Bosh, New Jersey Nets’ Devin Harris and Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hell hath no fury like a Deron scorn. Give em Hell in the second half of the season Deron!

And LOL at David West making it. Al Jefferson and Millsap both deserve to make it in over David West. And people say the league isn't a popularity contest.

They messed up last year, not this one in regards to Deron. West shouldn't be in.

Deron is just really unlucky.. And I don't think anybody is really going to take the Paul/Williams debate seriously until Williams makes it in at least once..

Nobody on the Jazz truly deserved it . And our squad needs rest and time away from the game to reboot.

But you know what is funny?

NO Carmello Anthony at the allstar game.

I can hear him now. "I cant believe I am not in the allstar game ---- David west? Seriously"

Hard to argue against anybody on the West except for David West.

This time, he'd be right though.

DW doesn't really care this year so I'm cool with the snub:

The Jazz, meanwhile, hadn't heard one way or another Thursday, but were preparing to not have a player selected as an All-Star reserve. In Williams' case, it would be the third year in a row he was passed over for a spot.

"I was positive I was going to make it this year, but with the injuries and the team not doing well, there was no chance really," Williams said. "So I'm not mad. I was more mad last year, even more the year before that.

"This year I'm all right with it. I need the rest anyways, so I'll take me a nice vacation."

I like Deron's attitude; it's exactly how I feel. He didn't deserve to make it this year, and as others have said, he needed the rest anyway. The last couple years, though? That was some shady passing-over.

As a wolves fan, I thought that as a team that has been incredibly malleable in boozers absence, either millsap or williams would get in if Al Jefferson wasn't in. The David West pick was ridiculous.

Big Al is awesome. I personally wouldn't have had a problem had he been selected over Boozer last season.

Devin Harris and Jameer Nelson All-Stars before Deron. He is losing more credibility around the league as we speak.

I dont care that our record is not so good and Deron's been hurt....he would have made it to the game his 2nd, his 3rd year, and this year if he didnt play in Utah.

Go win the chip, DWill...

I just love that this stuff really affects the way people view Deron in the media and as an NBA fan base.

We all still know that he's right around a top 5 player still, and I am happy as hell to have him. Other then Kobe, LeBron and Wade, there probably isn't anyone I would select for the Jazz to build a team around.

Talent wise he deserves to be in for sure. Injuries set him back this year. Good luck Saturday

Even as bad as he's been this year, he still should have made it. He's #2 in the league in assists, despite playing with a bad wheel, and his scoring efficiency is still better than average, even with the precipitous drop-off. I can think of players that are more deserving, but the reality is that Deron is not getting in because of where he plays. He's vastly more deserving than Shaq, Melo and West. There is no doubt about that.

Additionally, his team has been far more successful than players like Jefferson, Durant, Camby etc.

Millsap and Deron are the two best players on the best teams that were left out. Its just a joke of a joke.

But I will take 2nd team All-NBA 100x over any All-Star games. That's top 10 in the NBA. And what does it say about a system that is supposed to award the best players when someone makes the top 10 list before they make the top 24 list?

It says W.T.F

Last year I think Williams really deserved it, but this season Millsap deserved it more than Williams, and definitely more than D.West, but we're not even in a playoff seed at this moment, so I can't blame the coaches for over looking our guys who aren't even really playing beyond borderline all-star levels. Durant and Al Jefferson got robbed.

Deron Numbers
Last 5 Games:
21.4 PPG 52% FG 33.3 3PT% 70 FT% (ouch!) 3.4 Reb, 12.4 APG, 1.4 Steals

Last 10 Games:
22.9 PPG 48.7 FG% 35.6 3PT% 79.7 FT% 2.5 RPG, 11.1 APG, 1.1 SPG

He is going to finish with something like 20 PPG, 11 APG with 50%FG

This numbers are numbers of all-star in my book.

To me he is the 2nd best PG right now.

But if you say if I want to trade him for Lebron, Kobe, Howard or Wade I would do it with closed eyes.
Then there's a few player who are maybe better but they are too old to trade for them (Duncan, Garnett)
Then, there's the Paul case... Right now Paul is better, but I still don't trade him for Deron.
