Celts Pistons 1/30/08 Victory Cigar

Post#1 » by Spin Move » Sat Jan 31, 2009 2:45 am

No one had a great game, three solid games stand out Rondo, 12 assists with 8 points, Garnett 22 and 8 Pierce 20 5 and 5. I guess I go with KG with no clear winner for the D.

KG was great, especially on D, but 22 and 9 didn't hurt,

Pierce was solid,

and Rondo, though he could have been better by taking those open looks he passed up,
was still solid.

KG gets noticed only when he dominates in the offence  How many cigars have he gotten for the domination at the defence? Zero. Thats not unusual, simply offence is more attractive than defence. In MVP Top10 KG appeared only when he did something nice in the offence, while top MVPs are flat out offensive players.

Sorry for the rant, just an observation of everyday fact :meditate:
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

I voted for KG, but after looking at the box score I realize I was wrong. It was Pierce. Compare Pierce's numbers to Prince's. The gap is even bigger than when you compare KG's to Sheed's, TOs/Steals notwithstanding. And Prince is generally regarded as a better player than Sheed.

I thought KG was great on both ends and handled the physical play as well.

I don't much care for the whining about KG not getting enough credit for his defense. The guy is a beast but Doc baby's the big fella as well. He is not beat up on in one on one situations very much so it makes it difficult for him to essentially dominate a game defensively in the 4th quarter.

That said what is the deal with Sheed. That guy simply shows no heart against Boston anymore. Is he that overmatched by KG or does he just hate what is going on in DET? He looks bad.

It's not only that it's flashier.

But it's you win the game by scoring more points then the other team, not by how many shots the other team misses.

There was a time when basketball games barely involved defense compared to today's game.
