Durant = Snubbed!
How did this kid not make the All-Star team. I'm sick of hearing that it's all about a teams record. Yes, i understand it plays a factor but it should not outweigh their stat totals. I mean c'mon, Allen Iverson is starting for the East!!! I feel your pain OKC fans. D. Lee, one of my favorite Knicks who leads the NBA in double-doubles, was also snubbed.

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
Well, the Iverson thing is fan voting of course. I'd love to have seen Durant make it, if for nothing else than just to give this team/city something more to be proud of.
I would say both Lee and Durant were probably in the top 3-5 guys that were left off of the team. It's a tough call every year though!
Who does everyone think the guys that "shouldn't" have made it are? Of Western players that made it, I would say the last three guys for me would be Shaq, Dirk, then Parker.
In the East, I think they did a pretty good job, my biggest argument (even though I like the Magic about as much as any other team), is that Lewis and Nelson shouldn't have both made it... choose one. Maybe Lee is the guy that gets on in their absense... I don't know. I think the talk about Mo Williams is dumb though, the guy is only a scorer... he doesn't contribute much else and his numbers have been ridiculously inflated taking passes from Lebron.

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
I couldn't agree with you more about Mo Williams. LBJ will make any point look like a "snub". The only reason the Magic came out with two all-stars is because of their record. Rashard Lewis deserved to make due to his season long consistency. Every night he comes out ready to play. Plus, they pay him enough! As for Jameer Nelson, he's a good pg but 16.9 ppg and 5.4 apg just dont cut it in my opinion.
East players that shouldn't have made it:
- Jameer Nelson
- Iverson
- Paul Pierce (but there is no way their snubbing him)
West players that shouldn't have made it:
- Shaq
- David West
- Tony Parker
As for their replacements.....
East players that should have made it:
- D. Lee
- Iguodala
West players that should have made it:
- Al Jefferson
- Durant
- maybe Melo
I'm not saying all these players should/shouldn't make the team. I'm just listing a few who are likely candidates.
Don't worry OKC....The Knicks and Thunder will be ballin in the Rookie/Sophmore Challenge. lol

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
Its hard to see how a guy averaging 25, 7, and 3, shooting 47% from the field, 42% from long range, and improving dramatically every month doesnt make the team while a guy averaging 20, 7, and 2, shooting 47% from the field, PLUS getting easy shots from the leagues best point gaurd makes the team. Kevin Durant over David West.
Pau Gasol is another selection I am questioning. And I am a Laker fan. KD>>Gasol

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
KD's young, he has plenty of ASG's ahead of him. It's just hard to put a sophmore into the ASG when he's on an 11 win team. He's definitly the better player then West at this point though.
His #'s are rediculously inflated because of LBJ even though he's putting up worse stats then the last 2 years?

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
Wow, for some reason I thought he got his avg up to 19-20 ppg on almost 50% shooting, guess I was mistaken. In that case, he's even further away from being an all-star than I thought he was. He brings one thing to that team (scoring), and at 17 ppg, why not just throw a FOURTH Magic player on there like Turkoglu, I think even on the offensive end the Magic depend upon him more.
There are just a LOT of guys that I would go with over Mo Williams...

Personally I thought Ray Allen was snubbed of course, and then KD and Big Al should have made it as well for the west.

durant is a very nice prospect with nice stats, but you guys forget about looking at your team's record!
to be an allstar means you don't only need good individually statistics but also success with your team!

I think that is more criteria for the MVP award. All-Stars should just be the best players out there. Its not Durants fault his teammates consist of either misfits or extremely young players.
Lets just put it like this.. If you replaced Durant with David West on the Thunder, OKC would have like 4 to 7 wins right now. West cannot create for himself consistently, much less lead a team in any way. He was never any good until Chris Paul came along. Oklahoma City people know this more than anyone. Now if you put Durant on the Hornets and take out West, I think that team has pretty close to the same record give or take a few.

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
It's so hard to contrast two different players with "how would they affect the other team" unless they're very similar. I'm fine with the "team record" reason... his numbers (unless I'm missing someone) are a lot more gaudy than any of the other snubs, and the team has been playing over .500 ball for a month now, but I think most of it goes back to the atrocious start to the year.

Re: Durant = Snubbed!
dear 88' draft pick,
to my mind putting big numbers on a bad team isn't a lock to be productive on a good team. But if you're putting big numbers on a contender than it is more likley to do the same on a bad team.
But you're right. kevin is a better overall player than west. But hornet's team success is far more better than the team success of OKC. If you put these two criterias together, west will get a slight advantage over durant. And actually team record IS a criteria by selecting allstars. You can critisize it but can't deny it.
kevin will get his allstar status soon. If OKC gets another great youngster in the upcomming draft and adds some veterans and roleplayers to their roster than the team will be a contender for years and kevin will be probably in a discussion of being one of the best players who ever played the game!

Yeah, I'm not torn up by KD being left off the team. But he is certainly worthy, and his improvement under Brooks is phenomenal.
I don't think Rashard should've made it... I know you want to reward Orlando for stepping it up, but Nelson does the trick (and undoubtedly deserves to be there). West? I love his game, but I don't think so. Al Jeffereson? Snubbed... not flashy enough and flying under the radar in Minny.
