this trade works well... in the 4th quarter we always have problems with whos going to be in the game..

well kirk is a really good defender. shoots the 3 well and brings leadership
thabo is also a good defender who shoots the 3 well and can slash
and gooden and powell should take over some of lamars mins

so in the 4th we can have andrew happy, have thabo on the best wing defender and kirk on point. reserve kobes energy and have all 3 of them hawk the ball similiar to miamis defense and then have 2 shotblockers behind them... it will imediately strenthen the offense and defense alot

goodens contract expires this year so we can let him go..

so it would be

kirk/derek
kobe/sasha
thabo/ariza
pau/gooden or powell
bynum/pau

I like the idea but I would maybe get them to take Luke also, Bynum/Luke/Farmar for Okafor/Felton/GWall

Yeah.......I agree!! Leave Bynum alone!!

I have a question.

Do you think it would ever be possible to get Caron Butler back?
If yes, What do you think it would cost us, and would it be possible to get him without giving up obviously Kobe, Pau, Bynum and even Odom?

I would just love to see Butler come back to LA and be our starting SF.....

Fisher, Kobe, Butler, Pau, & Bynum
Odom off the bench

Let me have it....

Marbury, Duhon, Lee for Odom, Vlad, Sasha, Farmar and Mihm. Works on the trade checker.

The Knicks would get rid of the Marbury headache without just giving him free money. They would essentially add Farmar for Duhon which is a nice trade off money wise. They would add Lamar Odom who would fit the Dantoni style very well with a great chance to resign him, Odom being from NYC.

Mihm would be expiring of course and they would get Sasha and Vlad's contracts and three point shooting. Even though they would make around 25 million, between Farmar, Odom, Sasha and Vlad, in 2010/11 they still would have a ton of cap room w/ only Chandler and Gallanari under contract at 5 million. Nate could be resigned a year earlier for cheap and they could buyout Curry if he is still around and Jefferies if he is because it would be their last years of their deals along w/ Vlad and Sasha.

Knicks could offer Lebron 20 million and still have a lineup of Farmar, Chandler, ?, Odom, Lebron. w/ a bench of Nate, Sasha, Vlad, Gallanari.....

The Lakers' would buyout Steph, use Duhon as a backup w/ a nice dribble drive game. And the big piece would be to land David Lee and his rebounding. He would need to be resigned next year but a deal starting at 8 million would be great going forward. The Lakers' would essentially give Duhon 6 million for his last year of his deal and give Lee 8 million so add 14 million on to the cap. But subtract Sasha, Vlad and Farmars' money and it is a wash.

They would have Kobe at 23 mill, Gasol 16.5, Bynum at 12.5, Lee 8 mill, Duhon 6 mill, Fish 5, Luke 4. So 75 million for 7 guys but the front line would be covered and a MLE for Ariza would then be not out of the question. The other interesting thing would be Lee playing along side of Bynum, a rebound frenzy would be created. Gasol could be come expendable w/ Lee on board. Bynum at 22 next year and Lee at 26 would be very nice moving forward w/ the abilty to add a really nice piece for Pau.

09/10 Starters. Fish, Kobe, Bynum, Gasol, Luke. Bench. Duhon, David Lee, Ariza, Powell.

10/11 Starters. ?, Kobe, Bynum, Lee, Lebron.

Getting way ahead and dreaming a little but in order to keep Lamar or add a valubale front line piece like a David Lee is gonna be tough, some how Sasha and Vlad or Luke have to move w/ Odom to give the Lakers' a similar cap number as this year. I think the deal is solid on both sides of the mark.

As for the trade that was asked outside of this trade thread. I like it a lot Yue and Mihm for Hayes and Head. The Lakers' get tougher which is a good thing but I just don't see the Rockets trading w/ a rival such as the Lakers'.

The other RJ question is a solid no, I would imagine. That being said Micheal Redd is someone that would good in a Lakers' uniform but he would be an expensive 3 or 4th option going forward with the salary cap. Only way he could come over to LA would be an Odom, Vlad, Walton for Redd and Charlie V and Ty Lue.

But that don't make sense for the Bucks' unless they could re sign Odom next year.

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly considering trading Leandro Barbosa and could even entertain trading Amare Stoudemire, according to a source.

Stoudemire has an early-termination option after the 2009-10 season and, if he doesn't exercise it, would be an unrestricted free agent seeking a max deal in 2011.

Via CBSSports.com

Barbosa................???? Probably not an option for us, huh?

A) Wouldn't trade with us
B) We don't have what they'd want
C) Both A & C

Can I get some thoughts

No chance we get Butler via trade without giving up one of Kobe, Gasol or Bynum.

the only trade worthwhile right now is:

odom (or a combo of radmanovic/mihm, walton/mihm)

for

g. wallace

odom is a free agent next year as everyone knows and i think even if he was traded, he would put the lakers on the top of his lists. i think he would consider signing for the mid-level exception. ariza is also a free agent next year and we know his agent Lee will be asking for a lot.

radmanovic or walton can easily be replaced and mihm can be replaced by powell and powell's spot taken by mbenga.

wallace's salary isn't ridiculously high for his skill set and due to the lack of cap space in the future, if buss is willing to take the luxury hit, he would be a good incoming player. he may shoot too much but since he would be coming off the bench then it may be a good option. this may be a problem with ariza but he could slide into the starting lineup. wallace could start too but there's already not enough balls for the starting lineup.

so many questions but hopefully buss can keep everyone together but since that's not a likelihood, maybe a trade can be made. however, it is rare for a team with such success to make a potentially chemistry altering trade even though they could improve their overall makeup.

A Gasol for Brand deal would be interesting. Andrew and Elton on the back line would make for a better defensive duo.

However Brand has a huge contract that just started. I think Pau makes around 2 million more for this year.

Another twist would be Lamar for Brand. Might have to toss in another player or two but Lamar would fit their up tempo offense for sure.

Then in off season the Lakers' could think things over and possibly move Gasol.

Also seen that Philly is likely to move Andre Miller because contract talks are not going well. He is making 9.99 million this year and is free next season.

A second rd pick, Farmar and Vlad would be a decent way to go. Philly gets a shooter that they have been lacking and a PG that has upside going forward. Not to mention a second rd pick that could be a hit or miss.

Miller, Kobe, Bynum, Gasol, Walton. Fish, Sasha, Odom, Ariza-------------Mihm, Benga, Powell, Yue.

The move could then free up 9 million from the cap next year, used to re-up Lamar and or Ariza. And possilby have MLE money to toss at Jason Kidd.

Why would you trade Gasol in favor of Brand when Gasol is clearly better at this point in their careers?

:jawdrop: Yeah.....real interesting, seeing how Brand has only played in 26 games this year and has been plauged by injuries the last few years..................These would not be a good trades at all.

Brand as a Laker would be nice if we knew he could stay healthy...

I'm not a big fan of trading Odom for Wallace. Ariza provides the same things that Wallace would, for the most part (No, I'm not saying they're equal), and Odom isn't doing so poorly that we need to ship him out in this kind of deal. He's accepted coming off the bench, he's versatile, and having a player like that at 6'10" who used to be an All-Star caliber player isn't a bad thing to have...

Clearly better is one man's opinion. Brand for his career avg 20 ppg, 10.2 reb and 2 blks; Gasol for his career avg 18.7 ppg, 8.6 reb and 1.7 blk. Really close numbers with slight edge to Brand.

For a better fit I think Brand, health pending, is a better rebounder and defensive player than Gasol. Gasol has the edge in post moves but Brand is just thicker and more of a fit at the power forward IMO.

That being said I love Pau and what he gives the Lakers' on most nights. I just thought that it would be a decent swap when I heard that Brand might be made available because he didn't fit the up tempo style that the Sixers' are running.

Vlad and Mihm to NY for Curry. May need a C who can play if Bynum is out for a period of time.

They may seriously consider Walton+Mihm+one more small-scale contract for Eddy Curry. We get rid of basically the same amount of cash but we pay more over the next three years. New York gains approximately 5m in cash for the rest of the year.

Curry if worked hard would not be a bad guy to have around and the cost would be minuscule.
