I was wondering who you guys think Mitch might make a play for.

Shaq, Rasheed, Brad Miller, Bosh, Jermaine O'Neal, Marcus Camby, Francisco Elson, Eddy Curry

those are the guys I've seen rumoured/talked about. Who do you want and why?

EDIT: I don't think we need to make a move because I think Bynum will be back but...no harm in talking about it

The best fit would be Rasheed. He may in fact rip Boston's zone wide-open allowing Kobe to post up as well as providing the defense on Perkins we need.

Our rebounding would hurt but with Ariza and Kobe hopefully we can make their rebounding edge about even. Right now he's the best alternative.

The only one of those player mentioned in the earlier post that makes sense in Sheed but why would the Pistons do that for them its trading one expiring contract for another.

Do you guys really need any more offensive firepower? I would think a banger/bruiser down low to complement Gasol and Odom would be the way to go.

Let Kobe and Gasol handle the bulk of the scoring.

Sheed would be good, but I concerns about chemistry.

My choice would be Camby. He might be a bit redundant with Pau on offense, but defensively his length would fantastic!

IMO we won't make any moves for a big man.

Actually scoring is one of the most effective ways to beat Boston. If you can crack that zone you give yourself a really great shot at beating them. Rasheed is the one guy who could provide the spacing to play Ariza at the 3 and Gasol at the 5. As I said previously, if they can do it we'll be golden once Bynum gets back to decent form late in the playoffs.

I don't know, when Boston was on that little losing streak I saw the opposing teams contain Rondo and wreak some havoc with KG, keeping him somewhat honest in terms of efficiency. As a result, Boston scored in the 80's and lost a number of those games.

I think the key to beating Boston is containing Rondo (don't let him get out and run) and putting as much pressure as possible on KG. You hold them in the 80's/low 90's and you have a shot to win. As much firepower as the Lakers have, no offense, but you get into the 100's with Boston and they'll dominate. They're just too good defensively to allow you to outscore them.

There are always multiple ways to beat a team. Having the defensive versatility to guard them is one way to be sure. If Ariza and Odom are hitting from outside you're going to be seeing Boston go on major cold streaks.

Well if we did play boston I think we are pretty set on rondo.

Put Fish on Ray Allen (he did a decent job chasing around last year)
Put Kobe on Rajon for 3 QT's (than Ariza on Rajon for 4th)
Put Ariza on Pierce for 3 QT's (than Kobe on Pierce for 4th)

I like that matchup. Ariza frustrates little guards with his size and Kobe can shut down any player he wants.

But as an outsider looking in, I think if you can get some bruisers, a couple dirty bangers (did that sound right?) down low to use up their fouls on KG, I think you can wear them down in a 7 game series. You're not going to be able to stop everyone, I'd let Allen be the one to beat you because he can't stay hot througout 7 games. If he does, you have to tip your hat to them.

That and get into Rondo's head. If you can fluster him, that kid can lose his composure rather quickly and play somewhat recklessly.

Defensively at the 4 and 5 we're also not too bad as Gasol usually does fairly well on Garnett (except Christmas Day) and Perkins doesn't go off very often even against Odom.

It's in the rebounding department where we take a slight loss but not even that bad there since Ariza and Kobe will allow us to win most battles for long rebounds. It'll even itself out a bit in that regard. We need Bynum though to come back against their bench. He dominated Glen Davis and Leon Powe on Christmas Day.

We are the same team that went to the Finals last year + Ariza. I'd rather wait til Bynum gets back then to add someone who doesnt know the offense and might disrupt chemistry... We are fine

I think some players like Darko, Rasho, or Jeff Foster could also help.

The best there is Shaq. He knows the system, coaches, and would be motivated. Not going to happen. Could you imagine Shaq comes back to LA to win another title. To take all credit. For everyone to say Kobe can't win without Shaq.

The only way you could get Sheed is if a young player was going to Detroit as well. If not at least draft picks. Detroit needs Odom but if they loose Sheed they just open up a gap at center.

Darko would be an awesome option against Perkins and Garnett even with Bynum around. he's tough, strong, big and kind of a psycho enforcer who wouldn't back down from anyone. There's a possbility that he'll get ejected if things get out of control but he'd surely take someone out with him. :lol:
