Last time I checked, a dislocated shoulder is about 2.5 days, let alone 2.5 weeks. He will play. If he wasn't a first timer, he may sit, but he'll be there since it's more special.

OT: Jameer Nelson Dislocates Shoulder

Post#22 » by TDcraz5 » Tue Feb 3, 2009 4:29 am

Good news for Cavs fans. Jameer Nelson dislocated his shoulder in Monday's game against the Mavs. This should take a little pressure off the Cavs. Plus, Mo Williams will prolly be named to the All-Star team now.....

even tho I think it should be David Lee.

I don't think a separated shoulder would keep him out for more than two weeks. And why David Lee? We had the best record in the league and when they made the selections and only got in one player. We got snubbed. For one, Iverson shouldn't be a starter, let alone in it.

I don't think this would keep him out that long. And even if it did, it's not something I would wish on a guy like Jameer Nelson. He's been through an awful lot in his life. I hope he's ready to go for the ASG, it's a special moment in his life. I think we all want Mo to be there, but not this way.

Jameer will probably be out a month, if other dislocated shoulder injuries in the past are any indication.

I hope Nelson isn't out that long but Mo and Ray Allen both deserve a chance to be on the All Star Team over guys like Lee and VC who play on losing teams.

Anywhere from 4 weeks to 12 weeks IMO.. Looked to be similar to what Wade suffered a couple seasons ago... Depends on Nerve damage as well..

Would love to see them slip tremendously...

According to the American medical association, a dislocated shoulder takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks to heal depending on age, health, and any previous injuries to the shoulder that was dislocated.

That being said... age and health are in Jameer's favor, and I don't know of any previous injuries he's had to either shoulder. Dislocated shoulders have healed in as little as 2 weeks... so there is a chance that he could be back.

As for the All Star Game...

As much as I wanted to see Mo Williams make the ASG... I don't want to see him get in like this. Jameer is not the reason Mo didn't make it... Jameer earned his place in the ASG... and I hope that he can come back in-time to play.

If he doesn't make it back... There is a legitimate chance that Mo wont go any way... Zydrunas Ilgauskas is as good a candidate as anyone, and the east doesn't have any other center beside Howard... So Z may make it. If not Zydrunas, then Ray Allen is the next most deserving...after Ray...then I'd go with Mo.

Stern will likely take Mo though, as it is the general consensus that he was snubbed.

Ray Allen and David Lee also got snubbed though.

It would be nice if Mo Williams makes it. You never know, this might be his once chance to be on it.

I'm really interested in seeing how Orl plays now that Jameer is out.. Not many fans of other teams talked about when our second best player-big z- went down. Somehow, I think this will be the exact opposite. (Of course, this is a more serious injury..)

Well not only were we down our 2nd best player, we were down our 4th best player at the same time. And you could make an argument that outside of James, Delonte is the most important player on our team defensively.

So the equivalent for ORL would be taking Jammer and Hedo or Lewis out for weeks at a time.

It sucks for them that Jameer is out for so long, but I don't have much sympathy for them given our injury problems this season.

We are lucky Z's injury wasn't more serious though...and we have dodged a couple bullets with LBJ so far this year taking some hard falls.

Alot of people got snubbed. Iverson shouldn't be in it for the east, and Stoudemire shouldn't be in it for the west.

Al Jefferson or Carmelo Anthony should have made it for the west instead of Stoudemire. I mean Stoudemire as the starting small forward? WTF?

Well, Melo was out for some time with an injury.. I'm surprised he was snubbed for the 3rd time in his career though... And Al Jefferson? He is playing very well for a bad team.. So that has to be taking into account. Stoudemire is only starting because of his popularity. There is nothing we can do about that.

I hope Mo makes the all star team in place of Nelson though... If not it will probably be Ray Allen or Vince Carter IMO.

Yea, but Granger plays for a crappy team, he puts up GREAT numbers and made it. I think it should go by stats, not based on how your team is doing. So if LeBron played for the Thunder, put up the numbers he is putting up now, he wouldn't make the All-Star because of his teams record? Kevin Martin is another who should have made it IMO.
