Meaning he has to bang with the Bigs on the block.

If you play Villaneuva at PF, it means KG at C, which he hates,
or Davis still at C, which undesirable in the long run, especially against
the Lakers, Cavs and San Antonio when at full strength.

That Glen Davis game against San Antonio last year was laughable in that
TIm Duncan got whatever shots he wanted, that he normally makes,
but that day was missing, and everyone said Davis played good D
when Timmy was just missing shots that he normally makes.

Davis is playing better, I'm sure its hard for you to admit because you just have soooooo much riding on Davis sucking. I mean all those terrible things you've said about him, man you were like wayyyyy out on the limb and your just about scrambling to find a way out of this predicament.

Anyways.... Charlie V. is a nice talent but TA and Powe is an awful steap price and shot to chemistry for a player who has some really big question marks in terms of being able to do the job defensively on a championship squad. I say that it's foolhardy to get rid of Tony Allen at this point, he's a capable wing defender and he "knows the system." If you're left with Charlie as your backup wing or possibly worse you're force to further destabilize the second unit by promoting a rookie like Walker or Giddens? Really, really you think that's a good idea.

I'm not buying it. TA has legit value, and so clearly does Davis. Both of these guys have more value to the Celtics than they will for any other team. I say the team waits out the Marbury buyout and signs him for the minimum. Having him will only make all of the bench players for the Celtics better, with less pressure to score, something they struggle to do. Davis and Scals are capable up front and Powe is a perfect energy guy, garbage man in short minutes. I think they can get by with that if they have a healthy KG-Perk combo. Add Marbury to the fold soon and I think that's about all the Celtics will need to do in order to be a legit favorite.

Charlie V. is a good player and he is having a strong year. I would like to get me as well but he isn't strong enough to play the center spot. He can play the SF or PF spots and has good range on his shot.

Someone also brought up Jared Dudley. He wold be a good option at the SF spot. Nesterovic is decent but makes too much money.

Joe Smith, Marbury and Bonzi Wells are still my top options. We wouldn't have to trade anyone to get Bonzi and Marbury.

ORL has Tony Battie coming off the bench and playing well. I don't see a role in ORL for Joe Smith especially come playoff time. At least not a role that I would see them moving rotation players like Bogans and a 1st round draft pick for.

I really like the Charlie V move more for the future than even this year. It would just seem like a chance to snag a lottery talent. He is simply going to take Leon's role as the back up PF and he would be able to play a little with Garnett against a team like the Lakers or the Magic.

In the end someone tall who could score would be nice we looked awful short last night and the 76ers aren't very tall.

Well I'm glad you're at least sticking to your guns, it's a bit embarassing either way for you, but hey you just gotta make due sometimes... And I also think it's quite interesting that Davis gets all the credit for Philadelphia's offensive performance, I mean because clearly Glen should defend everyone on their team. In fact I think he played most of his 42 minutes all by himself, 1 on 5. Pretty impressive really.

But while we're at it lets look at his numbers from the game 12 points on 6-11 shooting, 11 rebounds (3 offensive, with two of those being key rebounds late in the 4th), with 2 assists and 2 blocks. For the worst player in the NBA that's not bad.

LOL, Jammer, you're like a basketball G O D man. I wish I had some of your knowledge of the game, FO REAL...

I watch the game quite closely my friend. I understand the limitations of all the players on the Celtics roster and I don't even have to look at flawed statistics like PER to confirm what my eyes tell me. Scal and Davis both bring some positive elements to the offensive side of the ball. Namely they both understand the sets, where to be, how to set good screens and picks, how to space the floor and find open spots, and with Davis you also get a guy who's decent in the P&R game and on the offensive boards. Their games are both predicated on NOT hurting the offense, they more or less just space the floor and try to allow the better offensive players to make plays, score, or find them open for the shot. So it's foolish to say that they have to "make up" for these players lack of offense.

Defensively Davis rotates well, takes charges, shows and recovers on picks, boxes out, plays solid post defense, but struggles to challenge drivers who attack the basket. He's got one really obvious flaw defensively, he can't block a shot. But to even intimate that he's the cause of the defensive problems on this team when players like House, Powe, and sometimes Pierce, Allen (when coasting defensively) all do less defensively than Davis. Particularly House and Powe, who Davis spends a lot of time with and are more or less subpar defenders.

So to me, it's clear that you're fixated on Davis' suckiness to the point where you attribute the Celtics generally poor performance from the second unit as "his fault" when in fact the blame should fall on the unit as a whole, which is lackluster. Remember it's a team game. The problem is that you love PER soo much that it couldn't possibly be the fault of guys like House and Powe because their PER's are "better", thus the blindspot in your knowledge of the game.

Davis was defending Thaddeus Young most of the night. Young: 4-13 for 10 points and 1 rebound. Yeah, Glen Davis did a terrible job.

Even Tommy noticed the good defense Davis played when. When Davis went to the bench, Tommy said something along the lines of: "Big Baby was doing a much better job defending Young when he was in there." Who was defending Young when Tommy said that? Powe. Doc didn't play Davis 40+ minutes (and the entire second half) because he was playing terrible.

I worry that Elton Brand could fall into Cleveland's lap. He doesn't fit Philly's style of play, is a perfect match for Wally's contract, and they may just decide it's better to get out from under his contract and grab an asset in the meantime:

I'm not sure that Brand is really the same player anymore. I think he would fit better with the Cavs than he does with Philadelphia and maybe he finds his game again. But he looks a lot older than he is for some reason and that contract is a lot to take on for a guy who seems a bit questionable at this point. However, the move would have a lot of upside potential. Interesting thought at least.

The only players that might have value are tony,scal and Leon and there's no way danny trades scal.I could see him trading tony and leon since : 1) since tony's been back eddie's game has gone in the toilet and 2) leon has been in afunk all season and still can't hit free throws and misses defensive assignments. Joe Smith would be a nice upgrade to our front court. He can hit the 10-15 footer, can post up and is a decent defender I think. I love what Leon can do when he's playing well but it's been a long time since he had a good game. As for Tony I agree with the comment i heard that I would rather live with Eddie's jumper than Tony's incosistency. He is an accident waiting to happen and he is NOT a point guard. So I would be fine if we could trade those guys and get joe smith . I would also be fine if we sign marbury although I still have my doubts about that guy.I still think Gabe could become a player but he has to learn to be aggressive all the time much the way Rondoo is learning that

Brand sux. He's benefited from playing on a crappy ass team with trash for teammates, so he was getting all the shots, all the rebounds, all the everything. If you want examples of trash putting up big numbers, go look at Tony Campbell's stats. Then you'll know what Brand is all about. Cavs should not trade for this trash if they want to go anywhere. Tony's inconsistent in part because he's asked to do more on the second unit than his abilities will allow. Tony has to handle the ball (to make up for Eddie's weakness here), he needs to defend the best wing player, he needs to help out the small second unit front court on the boards, and he needs to create offense for himself because he's one of the best scoring options off the bench. That's just too much for him to handle IMO.

If the C's are able to acquire Marbury than Tony can just focus on defense and scoring. He can do both of those things proficiently.

So IMO, it doesn't make sense to trade Tony AND Powe for a marginal improvement in a guy like Joe Smith, who won't be kept long-term... while also leaving the Celtics dangerously thin at the 2-3 spots. And NO I don't think Walker or Giddens are ready to defend Lebron in the playoffs. MAYBE you deal Tony and Powe for Charlie V. (though I personally am opposed to the idea) because he can play the 3 OK and he's young and talented.

Right now I just don't see any deals that make the Celtics a drastically better team, while also being realistic. Sure I'd love to upgrade Powe and TA for a more consistent wing and post player but that seems like a long shot IMO. I'd be happy if the Celtics were simply able to acquire Marbury after a buy out. I
