This is what the Suns should do, in this order

Post#1 » by Inconspicuous » Thu Feb 5, 2009 10:41 pm

1. Fire Kerr, there's too much to explain so I assume you guys know why already
2. Fire Porter, the team doesn't respect him and he looks like he does less coaching than Don Nelson
3. Hire Marc Iavaroni, the players loved him when he was in PHX and he's respected, plus he's known for coaching defense.
4. Set up an offense where the Suns play inside out with Amare & Shaq getting touches, and tell everyone else to move without the ball or set themselves up to get passes from the two bigs
5. Have at least one of these guys on the floor at all times Hill/Shaq/Amare/J-Rich when Nash is out of the game, and have them either try to run some easy pick and rolls or create their own shot and have everyone else get open for shots
6. Committ to defense, I know it's hard but have Shaq/Nash/Iavaroni be very vocal and forceful to players when they make bad decisions on both offense and defense.
7. Rejoice because the Suns win a title!

If we did all these steps the Suns would be 1st in the league, we've got the talent but it's not being used right. I'm not saying the Suns should become Celtics-like on defense, but committ to it and work hard on defense, this is why teams like the Blazers or Hornets are overachieving, because they committ on the defensive end.

You need to add in a 1A. That should be hire new GM and then let him pick the coach so that he likes who is coaching the team.

I think it's more like

1) Fire Porter
2) Kerr take over
3) Lose in the first round to SA/LAL
4) Fire Kerr

Won't happen as it's just just too easy to justify 100% getting rid of Kerr..

Two things: How in the world are the Blazers overachieving? Can we not be good? Second, have you seen our defense? Our defense is about as good as yours, so your arguement is way flawed. I am not trying to troll, but that was kind of way off base.

^ I think he means to be kicking as much arse as you guys are despite a poor showing from Oden and lots of injuries...AND in the West and with such a young team...

Oh okay. I am sorry for the confusion then. Was never trying to be a troll just was kind of lurking your part of the forums ever since the rumored "trade" between us has leaked (is the Dallas whatever where it came from even legit)? Anyway, sorry if I came off in the wrong way.

All good mate

I don't see that Dallas thing as anything too strong - the same guy mentions Beasley and Bosh as possible options for Amare too.

1. Have someone else buy the team

Thats not gonna happen so

1. Fire Porter
2. Fire Kerr
3. Hire ANYONE for coach but Porter
4. DON'T TRADE AMARE
5. DON'T TRADE SHAQ

Like I told you people before when they hired Porter who coached in Milwaukee (so I know...) you should not have hired him. You had Flip Saunders right there...

To a lesser extent Jeff Van Gundy as well. Kerr traded for Shaq which I would not have done and then your owner brought in Porter?

Funny, I thought Kerr hired Porter. In either case...neither were ready for their jobs. Porter or Kerr.

I would launch them both. I would love Amare in Milwaukee, but Amare is NOT your problem if you ask me. He is part of the solution.

But if he has his mind in NY and D'Antoni...let him go. But I would recommitt to him and trade Nash instead for a young PG and go back to running and getting the ball to Amare.
