OT: Amare available?

Post#1 » by jove9 » Thu Feb 5, 2009 11:26 pm

From the wiretap:

RealGM wrote:The Phoenix Suns have begun exchanging trade proposals with teams for forward Amare Stoudemire, league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday.

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... ing_amare/

Reading that made me want to post a dumb trade idea, thereby beating the ones that we're sure to read over the coming month.

So with the caveat that I know that this will never happen,

T-Mac and Scola for Amare and Barbosa

Trade ID #4973616

HOLY ****ING HELL!

I'd soil myself if that happened... and I'd post about it on RealGM.

Lineups:

HOUSTON
5 - Yao / Hayes
4 - Amare / Landry
3 - Battier / Artest
2 - Wafer / Barbosa
1 - Rafer / Brooks

PHOENIX
5 - Shaq / Lopez
4 - Scola / Admunson
3 - T-Mac / Hill / Barnes
2 - Richardson / Tucker / Dudley
1 - Nash / Dragic

well, i think i prefer to move artest though.
he don't seem to pan it out in Houston.
as much as i hate Tmac's injury, i feel he still got more to give if someone can instill some heart into him.
Artest - I think he has more or less shown what he has... and i'm not that all impressed especially on offense.

artest is going to get the extension he wants b.c he doesn't deserve it, Amare is only 26 and already a superstar every team is probably hopping on atm, i have confidence in morey

I'd be all for it but I do worry he won't be as good if he doesn't have Nash running the point

There's really no point, think back last season, an all-star caliber big available, then what happens?

Bynum goes down with an injury for the rest of the year, and the Lakers acquire Gasol for crap. So, now Bynum goes down with an injury yet again, and have Odom's expiring as bait this time, and then in another rip off trade, the Lakers acquire Amare to their new core. It's simple logistics.

But realistically, I'd expect Artest to go before McGrady.

let's just hope that Morey is at his very best this time.
I don't want to see adelman next season.
I think i got enough of those defenseless and crappy offensive decisions especially in the 4th qtr.

Thing is if we get Amare... We shouldnt expect much defense... He doesnt play it.. And he helps our offense. Esp. with T-Mac (when he plays) passing him the ball. Only thing is that he wants to be star player of team, how would he feel being 2nd/3rd best player?

IMO Artest is the most overrated defender. So, its almost like he doesnt play it.

yea i agree that Amare likes to be THE ONE.
However, with 2 passive players who do not want to be THE ONE, why not take the risk?
Artest tries to be THE ONE sometimes but gets 1-10... i'll take my chances with Amare if it really happens.
Artest has been just too disappointing on both ends of the court.
His bb iq seemed to dive when he flew south to Houston. But we kinda expected too much from him.
it's his fault that he usually burns us when he plays us. So, we kinda expected that kinda performance.
But that's not an excuse for 1-10!

I agree. Artest is not as good a fit as we all had hoped. In a deal for Amare, however, we need to include T-Mac's salary for it to work... unless you want to gut our team.

How much is he making a year?

Artest is still burning us... going 1-10

that's true. take alston, head or whoever.
i realized that when players seem to be on a season-long min contract they usually try their very best.
example: Von Wafer.
Get a couple of free-agent min signings. i'm sure we can find someone to replace the likes of Head or whoever.

By the way, i'm not exactly advocating the trade. i like it but i have my reservations about it too.

Amare Stoudemire is arguably the worst big man defender in the league, possibly one of the worst of all time. If you think you've seen bad defense on the Rockets, you haven't seen Stoudemire play defense. Some samples of him being owned by KWAME BROWN in the post:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEvrcEpf4l8

His offensive game this year has shown stagnation playing next to Shaq. It will not get better with Yao, especially since he doesn't have Nash to feed him the ball and we play at an even slower pace than Phoenix.

He is also very selfish and has a bad attitude.

Say no to Amare Stoudemire.
