More Proof That Porter Needs to Go

Post#1 » by Cash » Thu Feb 5, 2009 6:16 pm

Excerpt from Paul Coro's game recap:

Paul Coro wrote:Azubuike averages two made 3-pointers per game and has hit 44.9 percent of his 3-point tries this season. Azubuike said he was trying to "make Amaré a little uncomfortable" by extending him in screen-and-rolls. He made four 3-pointers and three layups for his 19 first-quarter points.

"We didn't expect that," Porter said. "He hadn't hit that many 3s this year. He hit a couple 3s and it got him going. I don't know if that kid has attempted four 3s in a game, let alone made 3. He was open and shot them with confidence."

How clueless is Porter? It's like he's trying to look stupid. I still don't actually dislike the guy, but it's clear to me that he needs to go. Things may not improve if he gets fired, but they will get worse as long as he's retained.

By the way, fantastic journalism by Coro. A lot of bush-league reporters will just print the coach's opinion without also giving you the actual facts of the matter.

I doubt Porter studies teams in advance.

Why is it that you insist on putting your own mark on something that already had a winning method? You have single handedly ruined this team and our chances of winning any time soon. The way you support and coddle Terry Porter is abysmal. He is a terrible coach and doesn't even make an effort to properly scout opposing players with two full days of rest. He is playing zone defense with Shaq anchoring the middle, making it pointless... The list goes on and on and on...

I have been a suns fan since the '70s and I have made the decision that after last night's showing, I will no longer support this team while you run it into the ground. As long as Terry Porter is the head coach I will not buy, watch, or in any way support this team.

I never thought I would be doing this but strangely you have made it one of the easiest decisions I've made in a long time.

Thanks for ruining something special.

*I figured Kerr could use some more toilet paper... Obviously that may be the only thing he uses the fan's opinions for...

I want Porter gone, but don't know if you can put all the blame on him here. The full burden of scouting opponents doesn't lie with the head coach.

I'll always support this team, but Porter has made it really tough to even remotely like him

His stubborness, arrogance, unwillingness to change etc is just unbelievable.

False. 99% of the people here who follow basketball as a SIDE HOBBY knew Azibukakke was a solid 3pt threat. It's his job to know that, not his hobby, and he sounded worse than a board troll when he said it.

epic fail

This reminds me of coach K's complete lack of info on the opposition during Team USA's disapointing 2006 basketball world cup run...
Never thought it'd happen @ NBA level :o

Knowing Porter, an idiot who can't speak words to convey truths, I really don't think that's what he meant. He should just say "We didn't expect that" and end it there.

Wow.

Just... Wow.

Azubuike has shot 43, 46.4 and 46% from downtown in his NBA career on 1.9, 2.4 and 2.7 attempts per game (that's 0.8, 0.9 and 1.2 makes a game) and Porter didn't know that this guy was a 3pt threat?

That should be insta-fire, never allowed back in the league again because you're a (Please Use More Appropriate Word)!

For three years, this guy has been shooting at an elite level from beyond the arc and you didn't know this? It takes 5 seconds to look this guy's stats up on nba.com, espn.com or b-r.com or wherever, and the head f'g coach of the team didn't realize he was a threat?

Terry Porter, I take back anything I may have ever said about you that even approached a defense or a positive frame...

You are a clueless moron.

I hate Terry Porter and I'm really, REALLY sour that Phoenix has a terrible owner and (Please Use More Appropriate Word) management. Plus, I'm peeved about the Raptors sucking and having another half-decade of mediocrity and bottom-feeding ahead of them, and about Shaq not getting a chance to improve his legacy (unless Phoenix does the right thing and moves him the Hell to L.A.).

porter hasn't improved the team in any way, he was supposed to make us better defensively but we're even worse on defense this year

kerr is a secret under cover agent for the spurs. no idiot in their right mind would keep a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) coach like porter. i didnt realize he was that bad of a coach until warriors played against suns...Spurs were smart sending their best agent to destroy a rival this efficiently and quick

It just makes no sense to try to blow up the team when we will have cap space when Nash and Amare and Shaq all come off the books in 2010, unless we are getting unprotected first round picks back in return I would hold off any trades till 2010.

anyone's got Kerr's email? I'll email his a$$ on our behalf to fire Porter tonight. lol. I mean how much longer can this torture go? I rather watch the SAW movies than our painful effort on offense & defense.
