It all comes down to the refs...

Post#1 » by chakdaddy » Fri Feb 6, 2009 4:18 am

Twice this year we have the Lakers beaten SOUNDLY if not for the ticky tack calls the entire game.

That's what it came down to in the finals last year; by some miracle the refs were fairly even, and we won fairly easily.

Maybe acquiring KG and all made it the best story. Maybe the Donaghy controversy threw a scare into the league. It'll be tougher this year, the league will surely want a Lakers title counterpunch, and we all know they've had a huge habit of handing things to the Lakers...they'll probably go back to old habits this year; but we know we can beat LA without too much trouble in a squarely officiated game.

Credit goes to Kobe for hitting those cold blooded 3's though. Wow.

you can't be serious...
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Another excuse post this another excuse post that. As a Celt fan, I am embarrassed in reading this. The Lakers beat us fair and square, the Celts weren't playing that traditional defense that they are known for, except when Pierce played against Kobe.

I agree with you man I was watching the game and the whole time I was thinking, if this game was called fairly then the Lakers would be playing much differently.

I agree. Very bad officiating all over but really bad as Perk never gets a call. Never.

+1

I can't believe the knee jerk reactions around here. Comments in the game thread like Allen is a bum and get Ainge out before he does something stupid.

The referees were complete hacks tonight. That last foul on Garnett was bullplop. But, the Celtics didn't deserve to win this game because of:

1. Paul Pierce not driving to the basket, WHEN THAT'S HIS F'N MOVE
2. When Pierce actually DID drive to the hoop and picked up the foul, he turned into goddam Shaq at the foul line
3. Big Baby thinking he's Michael Jordan, taking shots over Ray, Pierce and Rondo
4. Doc playing Baby instead of Eddie "I'm on **** fire" House or Leon "I'm also on **** fire" Powe
5. Ray Allen not even touching the ball the entire 4th quarter.

This was as frustrating a game as I've seen in a while. Complete chokejob by the Celtics.

All I have to say is Paul Pierce is a lock-down defender on Kobe, yes he gets help but he doesn't bite. One of the better ones' for sure.

About the officiating, it went both ways man.

Before he took the shot he was grabbed and held while dribbling by Fisher which should have been called..... 8-)

F'real...looked like he was Rip Hamilton out there. Gasol was too far away to foul him though.

Good lord. Blaming the refs gets so old everytime we lose.

Why not blame our poor defense? Or Pierce's missed free throws in the 4th? Or Big Baby's ill-advised jump shots? Or Perk laying yet another egg against the Lakers? Or Doc for playing Big Baby over Powe when Powe is clearly playing better? Or Ainge for gutting our bench in the offseason? Or Wyc for being dumb enough to think we can repeat on the cheap?

All true, but it's just frustrating because even with those things, we win with a decently called game.

The problem is, the Lakers didn't play that well either...ugly game all around, but once again, the team with the 8 on 5 advantage scrapes it out.

Let the Lakers have this game. They won't be lucky next time.

Refs sucked both ways. I could have lived with it either way if KG hadn't fouled out the way he did. I mean if you are going to kick him out of the game, at least do it on a play where it looked like he did something. I knew we would lose in OT without him. Pretty disappointing to lose to them twice, but maybe some good will come of it as long as we dont go on another losing streak.

I´ve seen the exactly same game as you. My only complain is KG 6th foul. I know bad calls are everywhere, every game for every team but that was a decisive moment.

then please go get your eyes checked because ray allen got fouled on that last play, no doubt.
