Why was baby Davis in at the end of game

Post#1 » by boykins_2 » Fri Feb 6, 2009 1:22 pm

Powe was playing great, Davis did more to hurt the team rather than help the team at the end. He was the difference they lost. Powe should have been given a chance first to see how he would do.
Davis was being burned by Gasol and Odom. Even that play at the end where Davis caught the ball, he supposed to set a pick for Allen. Big deal the guy managed to hit one wide open jumper in OT. What about all the other wide open jumpers and the terrible defence.
Doc has to make a decision about those two (davis or Powe).
After that LA game I don't see how you can trust BBD again. The guy is getting major minutes and he's not producing.

LOL No clue. He earned his minutes prior to this game but it was clear that he didnt have it tonight and he clearly forgot his role. I was at the game last night and it was funny because whenever Big Baby caught in the late 4th and OT everyone would yell NOOOOOOO! Seriously unless the clock was about to expire he shouldnt have been shooting last night.

It was for spacing reasons. With Perk and Rondo already in the game, we had to have another guy out there who could knock down the jumper. So although Powe was having a better game, Big Baby has been shooting the ball well lately and he did knock down a crucial jumper in overtime, too bad he got blocked on the next attempt.

Whatever. Getting his confidence and experience up is a good thing. Baby showed a lot of hustle, hit a big shot in OT and got a big rebound in overtime. If we won the game, had we scored at the end there would be praise for Baby. Wins and losses individually don't mean a lot. This game for Baby, and Docs decision to go with him mean something.

Also up for consideration is Baby might be being showcased for a future trade. Just a thought.

Anyone who watches this team saw how crucial Baby was against Philly. I like the crunchtime lineup of Rondo, Paul, Ray, KG, and Baby.

Understand the match ups. Leon against Powell that is were Leon was playing well, not Leon against 7'.

I agree that leaving Davis in was puzzling, but I was far more irritated by our decidion to run the offense through Paul almost every time down the court.

We really missed scal last night. He provides the best spacing of any of the PF options off the bench. He has been able to provide a good amount of what Posey gave us when we go small.

Yes, and Scal could have guarded Odom, who went off in the second half. Scal may be a better matchup for Odom than BB or Leon. Come back Scal!
