Bibby hopes for shot at 3-point contest

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Dec 28, 2008 6:55 pm

• LET’S DO IT AGAIN: Hawks point guard Mike Bibby tried to win a 3-point shooting contest at the All-Star Game once and came up short. After years of watching the league’s best shooters attempt to snatch the crown, he’d like another shot in February in Phoenix, his hometown. “I’d definitely love another crack at it,” said Bibby, who entered Saturday’s game against Chicago at Philips Arena third in the league from beyond the 3-point line at 43.2 percent. “The last time I was in it they didn’t even have my shoes. It was my second year in the league and the All-Star Game was in Oakland. I guess my shoes didn’t make it through customs [Bibby was playing for Vancouver then].”

I would love to see Bibby take on the other shooters for the 3-point title.

As of right now, the leaders in 3PT% include:

Jason Richardson .489%
Roger Mason .469%
Matt Bonner .464%
Raja Bell .460%
Vladimir Radmanovic .456%
Mike Bibby .451%

But Bibby is second in the league in the 3PM category, so is Joe Johnson:

Rashard Lewis 90
Mike Bibby 78
Ben Gordon 77
Ray Allen 75
Danny Granger 70
Joe Johnson 70

Now I'm wondering what would take for Bibby to join the 3-point contest.

Just saw on ESPN that he will be participating the 3-pt contest during All Star Weekend.

I thought J- Rich would do it, especially with him at home and attempt to win the Slam Dunk and 3 pt contests. The Suns like 3pt shooters don't they?

Now if he WINS, or comes real close, does it cement his status as trade bait at the deadline?

Man... right now I'm torn between keeping Bibby or let him go. I'm just happy for him he'll be joining the 3-Point Shootout.

Can't see dealing Bibby at the deadline. If the team screwed up this season after the strong start by dealing a key player it could negatively affect chances to resign Joe Johnson when his deal is up.
