Also, wasnt he like 18 yrs old in his rookie year? Dude was a kid then, of course hes gonna gain power with or without steriods.

Guys get bigger, but they don't put on that kind of bulk. And he has continued to increase in size since he joined the yankees...

It is disappointing, but it shouldn't be surprising.

well Griffey was skinny when he came into the league and he continued to put on weight all the way through his final years with the Reds

Maybe going to Texas and playing in a tiny park that helps home run totals had something to do with it?

He probably did juice, but wasn't it not illegal in 2003?

Have to agree, sick of hearing about it. The whole league was on them.

Players should admit it when they get busted..its far less damaging to their reputation if they do..Look at Giambi, he admitted to doing it ( he said he tried it a few times to recover from an injury faster or something...iirc) and Giambi is making money, playing baseball and theres no talk of his stats being discounted and all that crap.

And I hate the fact that Bud Selig is basically getting away with everything...Someone needs to come down hard on that scum.

A-Rod shouldn't disclose anything. He should continue to stay silent and direct it to the MLBPA. Let him take some heat now, it will fade eventually unless the docs are unsealed - it's all hearsay without proof, he never lied under oath so he has no legal worries. His legacy will be tarnished forever if he admits he used steroids, especially the type that he was reported to have taken.

Also, look at the way he's a lightning rod for criticism and abuse - you think he's going to get a pass? We're not dealing with a Giambi or a Pettite here, the guy is the biggest sports celebrity today. The taunts will be worse for him than they were for Palmiero if he comes out and admits it. He should not deny or disclose - just keep his mouth shut and let it blow over, however long it takes, months or years.

Now since the Golden Boy has been caught red handed using riods where is the outrage Barry has been taken the last few years. I'm not some big Bonds fan but the public were calling for Bonds head.

Actually it was made illegal in 1990. MLB just didnt implement testing and penalties until 2004

Good to see some fair, intelligent judgment coming ffrom the NY media today. Oh wait.

So stupid even ARod couldn't believe it in that stock picture.

Former Cubs and Phillies second baseman Mickey Morandini think the A-Rod situation hurts the integrity of the league in the mid to late 1990's. Here is what they had to say about it.

Not really comparable. Bonds got busted and denied it even when 20 people threw him under the bus, then he went and lied to a grand jury under oath about the matter. ARod got busted and admitted the mistake and chalked it up to the fact that it was the culture of baseball where probably more than 50% of players were using.

Lets all be serious, guys like Clemens, Bonds, ARod, Sheffield, Palmeiro are the best players we have seen in this generation. Who knows who else used and hasn't been named yet? Or better yet, who has used but never got busted. Look at a guy like Vlad, who hits home runs to the opposite field off of balls that are at his ankles and now his body is breaking down. Or David Ortiz, who had some injuries then exploded into the best hitter in the AL only to have his body deteriorate now. Who knows, maybe there is a reason Mariano Rivera shows no signs of aging. We would be fools to give any player the benefit of the doubt at this point, many top players we have watched over the past decade has been connected to steroids, and who knows how many haven't been named yet.

That is why I don't think the whole steroids thing is a big deal. You can put an asterisk next to any record if you'd like, but steroids were NOT illegal at the time that these guys are accused of using. So to deny them anything is simply not fair, especially when MLB was the enabler here. I really don't lose much respect for any guy who used, because the amount of guys who did use is astronomical.

It will be interesting to see how he plays this year. Arod is infamous for choking under the playoff pressure, I wonder how he plays under the Steroid pressure?
