Q and A with Daryl Morey

http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Q_and_A ... 05-34.html

i read it and can say that don't wait for a major trade. but when i remember his statements in summer, i'm just not sure about that. he is daryl morey and everything has a possibility to happen. maybe we will trade someone for our pg position, maybe we will make a trade for back-up center position. it would be major, or not, but still have something to do with this roster.

anyway, IMO you should read this q 'n a, great interview from jason. morey talks about some other things, like 2010 summer, team defense, tracy and any other things.

It was a good interview. Friedman asked all the questions that the fans wanted the answers to. Imo it was a well-conducted interview.

It's encouraging that Morey's not even thinking about 2010 since he has a lot of confidence with this lineup. He also believes Ron and Tracy can play together.

In Morey I Trust.

it wasnt meant in a way to discourage you from posting articles...I am just saying, that nba.com has no insight whatsoever when it comes to something that would tingle my fingers

and Morey usually gives us nothing, he just gets things done

He's thinking about 2010 exactly like I expected. :)

Er, you were? He's not thinking about "2010" (though he's no doubt planning for that year)

:: confused spin! ::

I guess the one place I disagree with him is in that Artest is a good fit on the team (second disagreement other than the Francis signing, which may not have been his doing), then again, he has more stats and resources at his disposal, and sees the team playing much more than I do, so...
Morey 2020.

A few weeks ago when our team was in chaos, I said Morey will get seriously involved in the summer of 2010. So in that regard I was wrong, and I thought your initial response was pointing out my mistake. :D

Good stuff, always a pleasure to hear Morey, unlike Amel.

Reading the interview,Morey does have some concerns and I would love to kmow what he's worried about specifically. Interesting that it's the offense that's his biggest open concern.

Moofs,
I wish the Rockets had identified Mike Miller as the guy they wanted last yr and traded for him. Oh well. But I can understand the thinking behind Artest.
He was the one obtainable player who could replace both Tracy and Yao if they went down. If Yao went out,you move Ron to the low-post and you still have an inside game. If Tracy went out,Ron is a potential 20ppg scorer who can take some of load off Yao. If everybody's healthy he gives Battier a break from guarding the other team's top guns and can be the scoring threat on the second unit.
Ron's versatility would be like having 3 players in one.(Sorry, just had a mental image of a TV commercial for the Ronco Atrestabot-it slices thru offenses,it soops up loose balls,it defends pesky scorers,it even shoots 3s!!! And for a limited time Ronco will include the passing out of double teams option for Free!!! And best of all, there's no long contract for the Artestabot. Try it for 1 yr and if you're not satisfied, you can return it for free. The Ronco Artestabot does it all. It Scores!!! It Defends!!! It Rebounds!!! And w/our patented Tru Warrior technology,it's virtually indestructable!!!! Get yours today!!!)

Moofs,
I agree Ron is a poor fit as he is not someone we want creating from the perimeter. And he demands minutes that might be better given to other players that might fit the team's needs better.(G** help me,I mean Wafer in particular. Never, ever thought I'd say Wafer needs more minutes.)
But this last game does offer some hope as Adelman put Ron down low where he's most effective and as game went on he and the team looked comfortable w/each other. It will prob be a season long struggle getting everybody playing on the same page, but I think Adelman now knows what to expect and how he can best use everybody.
If the Minn game was a precursor and not an exception it bodes well for the Playoffs. Adelman can finally put Tracy,Shane and Ron on the floor at same time and have them be effective against NO's West,Dallas' Dirk,LA's Lamar, maybe Boozer.

Haha nice! The first paragraph was indeed the original idea, and the second may well be, I sure hope so. We've still got 2 (hopefully healthy) weeks to see for sure, and I don't really expect Artest to go anywhere. I don't suspect that any trade involving him would help our team this year, so...
Morey 2020.
