I would trade Artest, Landry, Brooks, and the rights to Frederic Weis for Amare.

You would be satisfied with Alston as our only PG?

That's why my eyes were permanently crossed by yaomac-11's idea. Brooks/Barry as our only pgs? Trade our best pf for one who arguably isn't as good and is probably only slightly better?
Give Scola the same minutes, and PPG/FG/FT are (theoretically) only slightly lower than Amare's, Rebounding is much better, turnovers are lower, and he plays good defense, doesn't require the ball, won't make any locker room noise and gets in nice hustle plays to boot.
^ which is also why a more realistic Amare trade wouldn't be that great.

I don't know, Moofs. Sure, Scola is a good player, but even if he played in PHX there's no way that teams shuffle their defenses to stop him like they have to do with Amare every night.

True, though Scola has made some teams change up their defenses, and I can't deny that I'm curious how Alston/Barbosa/Stoudemire/Landry/Wafer would be on a fast break.
Morey 2020.

Well Amare stats are questionable. You get away from D'Antoni, your stats lose some luster, as shown with Nash. You get away from Nash and D'Antoni, and your stats plummet. See Marion@Miami and Richardson@NewYork. This lends me to believe that Amare Stoudemire, whilst an intriguing physical specimen that garners his stats via athleticism, may not be as much of a potent player as one would believe. I think his stats might be inflated by at least 10% thanks to who he is playing with.
That and all the other intangible factors such as his locker room attitude, his inability to play defense... well I don't think he's a good buy.

I agreewith you. I would be all for the trade if he could produce like he has in previous years. But we dont have any of the elements(Nash, uptempo system, playing defence not necessary) Amare needs to play to the best of his abilities. It would be foolish to think that Amare playing in Houston would workout great just because he's Amare and he's a talented player.

Im against Houston trading for Amare because I think he's an worse fit than Artest. Talent alone doesn't make winners. Players have to fit the system and have chemistry. Look at us with Artest(injuries also a factor), the Knicks from a few years ago and this years Clippers(I know they're the Clippers but still).

After reading the latest news about Artest and T-Mac developing a rift in the locker room, I'm starting to rethink Amare. I would still definitely pull the lever on that trade in NBA 2K, but you're right. A lot of a team's success in real life is based on chemistry.
I wouldn't be too surprised if we trade Artest before the deadline.
Trade ID #4990449
Artest, Head, and Barry for Richard Jefferson

Re: OT: Amare available?
Imagine our defense with Amare, instead of 120 points to the Bucks, it would be 140. But Amare would clear up the locker room to an extent and can score...any change, please. But Amare wouldn't help our rebuilding plans.
