OT: A-Rod Interview with Katie Couric (Oh my)

Post#1 » by Mr. Sun » Mon Feb 9, 2009 8:24 pm

Katie Couric spoke to A-Liar after the Mitchell Report was released:

"For the record, have you ever used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing substance?" Couric asked.

"No," Rodriguez replied.

Asked if he had ever been tempted to use any of those things, Rodriguez told Couric, "No."

"You never felt like, 'This guy's doing it, maybe I should look into this, too? He's getting better numbers, playing better ball,'" Couric asked.

"I've never felt overmatched on the baseball field. I've always been a very strong, dominant position. And I felt that if I did my work as I've done since I was, you know, a rookie back in Seattle, I didn't have a problem competing at any level. So, no," he replied.

Yeah it's BAD for baseball that arguably the top 3 guys of the 90's were all juiced...

More names to come I'm sure. Manny, Frank Thomas, Thome, Kevin Brown etc will be next I bet

I think only guys like Schilling, Randy Johnson, Maddux etc will be free from this scarring

Andruw Jones is another I would think he might have been juiced - his last two years have been a joke

I don't think Manny juiced. Maybe Frank, Thome did, and I think Kevin Brown did. He fell apart with injuries towards the tail end of his career after he got that fat contract.

How about your boy Luis Gonzalez? Goes from 30hr to 57 in one year? hmmmm

Just trying to think of some others...Bagwell? Delgado? Wonder about some of those outfielders like Vlad, Griffey and Torii Hunter...

I never bought Juiced cos I just can't make myself put money down knowing Canseco's going to get a slice

How about Roger Maris, a non-HR producer hitting 61 homers in 1961 before there was such a thing as roids? His physical bulk never changed as had happened with Mac, Sosa, Bonds and A-Roid (neck, chest and thighs).

Players can streak ... its when they streak every year after under going physical transformation that is suspeciaous as hell.

Gonzalez's was more freakish though...he had LESS at bats than the year before and hit 26 more at age 33.
Maris had almost 100 more at bats and belted 28 more in his prime at 26...

I don't think Gonzalez was juiced, at least I hope he wasn't - he was a consummate pro

If Gonzo juiced than the world is a darker place.

Yeah I don't think he did either, he was always in impeccable shape and hit a crazy amount of doubles and wasn't exactly a slouch hitting HRs...All I was saying that ALL these players who had big years in this time are now under the cloud

^^^Too true. All this roid stuff seems to be hurting the game more than any lockout ever did. Very disappointing.

No names suprise me. I think Selig let it get so out of hand that steroids were like protein shakes to these guys, it was part of the game.

Actually there was one guy who was boozing when everyone was roiding.. check out this quote from david wells "I drank beer, and I had a career year." haha

Then my friend, this is indeed is a darker place. The only explanation why Gonzo had a carrer year is because he juiced... I'm not complaining, he brought us our first title.

I dont think Gonzo was juicing, the dude comes in to my work all the time, really nice guy, great family, and non-juice built arms. Just from what I see in his family I know he wouldn't be juicing.

Thomas doing steroids!?!?!?

Lmao. He lost the most thanks to the juicers. He was the only one in the '90s calling for players' heads when he was getting jipped, because most likely he knew what was going on. At the time he was trashed becasue of his "lack of loyalty" and "selfishness." But come on. He missed out on at least 3 MVP awards because everyone else was juicing. The other thing is, he's been this size since high school, and he's still about the same size as he was when he started in the L. Finally, he's been used by Congress during every "steroid hearing" to testify against the other players in their hearings via satellite, usually as an example of "the sole clean, honest player."
