Unfortunately it looks like we'll saying it from the stands as we watch the playoffs.

If we add a Felton and Granger comes back to near 100% after the all-star break, this team could go on a bit of a run.

Ehhh...agree to disagree. Players like Foster dont determine whether you make the playoffs or not. He may be the missing big man to push a contender over the top, but not a guy that determines your playoff fate.

While i do respect your decision, let's look at a projected depth chart:

PG- Ford/Felton/Jack/Diener
SG-Dunleavy/Daniels/Rush
SF-Granger/
PF-Murphy/Baston/McRoberts/May
Cc-Rasho/Hibbert/Nazr

Granted that Granger has the coverage of both Dunleavy and Daniels, our backcourt and SF positions are indeed fine. What I'm concerned about is just how weak our frontcourt looks after this deal.

I struggle to find any situation where I'm playoff bound with Murphy and Rasho as the starting options. Even Murphy/Nazr and Murphy/Hibbert is simply not enough to get us there. Nazr hasn't played consistently in years, May is terribly out of shape and Hibbert is simply not ready. Rasho? Hardly a force.

How will the PF minuted be manned? Murphy playing 40 a night? Baston/McRoberts/May are hardly bench options worthy of pushing our results.

Sorry for being a Negative Nancy on the subject, I just don't see it happening yet. We simply have absolutely no consistency, and removing one of our better defenders when it is already a primary concern doesn't get us closer IMO.

Our frontcourt is weak now. Trading Foster really doesnt hurt us that much. It doesnt change Murphy's minutes, or the PF position in general. Has Foster logged any real minutes at the 4 this year?

Our defense is atrocious, and its not going to get any better. Foster is a good defender, but opposing teams get whatever they want against us anyways. I think if we were a team that focused on defense, then it might be a different story, but we dont.

Our second half schedule is easier, and with or without this deal being made, that will be our time to strike. This deal gets us more flexible for the future without giving up on the season.
