Allstar Reserves: Introducing from the New Jersey Nets...

Post#1 » by jerseyjac » Thu Jan 29, 2009 11:56 pm

I guess this was leaked...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns

Shaquille O’Neal will make his return to the NBA’s All-Star Game on Feb. 15 in Phoenix, multiple front office sources told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday afternoon.

O’Neal, 36, was one of seven Western reserves chosen by the NBA’s coaches, and will play in the All-Star Game for the hometown Suns. O’Neal had played in 14 consecutive All-Star Games until missing out in 2008.

Yahoo! Sports obtained the rosters, and the West reserves also include the Los Angeles Lakers’ Pau Gasol, New Orleans Hornets’ David West, Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker, Denver Nuggets’ Chauncey Billups and Portland Trail Blazers’ Brandon Roy.

The East reserves include two Orlando Magic, Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis. East coaches also chose the Boston Celtics’ Paul Pierce, Atlanta Hawks’ Joe Johnson, Toronto Raptors’ Chris Bosh, New Jersey Nets’ Devin Harris and Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger.

I feel bad for Ray Allen...I thought he was having a better year than Pierce...one thing was for sure, we were not getting 2...and Devin had the best chance regardless of Vince's stats...he'll enjoy the time sleeping...

yea, i guess so, the All-star means alot to younger guys ala nelson, harris, granger, etc, as for VC he dosnt have to prove anyhing plus he has fresher legs for the half, plus we dont have to pay him more money...

Iverson stealing a starter's spot sort of screwed things up, unfortunately.

It was pretty clear that one of Nelson/Willams/Rondo would take a spot, but because of Iverson, Carter ends up getting the shaft.

What was surprising to see was Lewis getting one of the spots, because he wasn't really expected to. Take Iverson out of the equation, and then Lewis, and both Carter and Allen get in.

yeh, you're probably right...good for Rashard and Jameer...always liked Lewis's game, and I've been trying to convince Howard that Jameer had the guts and know-how to get it done in Orlando  ...he's finally hit his groove...plus he's not looking over his shoulder...

It could be worse for Carter...he could be Al Jefferson. Seriously...David West?

Unfortunately, I don't think Vince has a chance of getting put in. Looking at everyone else on the bubble, you could argue that he's the 5th in line.

- Ray Allen
- Rajon Rondo
- Mo Williams
- David Lee
- Vince Carter

Personally, I have it as Williams, Carter, Allen, Lee, Rondo. Any way you slice it, I don't see much love for VC here.
