If anything, staying home shows more maturity than going to Phoenix. It's saying that he wants to rest up/get healthy, and that he would rather spend time with his family than go and party with the other players.
Please, tell me what is so selfish and immature about that?

Yeah this is exactly what i was thinking, him choosing to rest up due to his injuries over partying and having more of a chance to do something stupid makes him more immature. When i first read the story i was thinking that he has matured by choosing to pick family over partying.
He will heal his injury more and he will get to be with Lala.....win win situation

Hilariously, I assumed this thread was related to JR Smith in the dunk contest, where Melo could potentially play some sort of role in helping him.

I'd just assume Melo stay away from the party scene, and I think Chauncey will do just fine without him.

Because he'll go to Phoenix and play if he's selected to the team...

So he's saying he'd rather rest his elbow... then all of a sudden RINNNNGGG "It's David Stern, congrats Melo, you make the All Star team"... "Okay my elbow is fine now...! I go to PHX!"

Can't see anything wrong in the picture?

Your logic makes no sense. If I was an nba player playing a lot of games, traveling Melo doesn't see his kids too much or his family/friends. If I was not selected, I been there done that its time to be a responsible player rest for 2nd half of the season and the postseason. Not acting immature partying and just getting away from the media bull. It's not all about them, I'm sure if I was in Billups situation I would understand why he wouldn't feel like going. It's just an exhibition game, it doesn't mean anything. He didn't get selected, look for Melo to tare **** up in the 2nd half. Nuggets have been playing well, with Melo playing ok in the 1st half, he should explode in the 2nd half.
