O.T. STEROIDS AND THE NBA
With all this talk in MLB with steroids and A-ROD, I always think about the NBA and what if. I mean the biggest names in baseball today have all been tested positive for steroids, and it has tainted so many records which has ruined the great game of baseball. It just strikes me to even think about, what if this happened in the NBA? I mean steroids could benefit every sport out there. How insane would it be if it happened in basketball?
Not sure if this has been talked about yet, but I just think how sad baseball is now with all this steroid talk....

I think the insane thing is that the NBA is never brought up. These athletes are bigger, stronger, and faster than in the MLB...how does Stern manage not even allowing suspicion.
IMO it has already ran through the league. I mean talk about hat size:

I guess suspects would be Dwight Howard, Lebron James just for their massive size and speed. They need to mandate some sort of testing for everyone randomly.

Re: O.T. STEROIDS AND THE NBA
I mean when most people think about steroids, they think about bulkness, about being real buff, but theres so many steroids out there to make you quicker, stronger, endurance, and not make u bulk up, but can keep you in the best shape of your life.
For example HGH (Human Growth Hormones). Literally makes you feel 10 years younger. I mean ill put it in perspective. Look at Grant Hill. After numerous ankle surgeries, he has been playing one of his best basketball seasons this year with the suns. Exploding to the basket, his hops are back, and his quickness is even back. HGH can do all these things for you. Theres no secret that HGH is an anti aging steroid. I was just using Grant Hill for an example, but you really never know now a days, and I guarantee you its happening in basketball.

Re: O.T. STEROIDS AND THE NBA
The MLB has me totally suspicious of everyone really. Even Kobe losing 19 pounds to become a defensive stopper had me wondering. He doesn't even man up on defense anyway. He roves.
I think the NBA saw what was happening to baseball and took care of it internally. Maybe not though, because you'd think one of these knuckleheads would have let it slip.

I mean dont get me wrong, who wouldnt want Kobe playing till he was 40 and playing with the same talent he was playing with at 30. But its crazy though, if the NBA decides to pursue steroids in the NBA, how disappointing it would be to learn this in the NBA. It would make me look at basketball very differently and it would destroy the NBA.

That's why I think Stern had it taken care of already. Noway is he going to let it jeopardize the sport.
(Even though baseball is as "popular" as ever; helped by the steroid era.)

Re: O.T. STEROIDS AND THE NBA
There was actually an article i read about how the NBA managed to avoid all the steriod hype. Darn i wish i remember where that article was. But it gave a good explanation as to why NBA were able to avoid it..
Not saying that nobody in the NBA have done it but if you think about it... most steriods make you look bulkier, stronger of some sorts etc.. but in the NBA being bigger is not going to help you much.. you need speed and endurance which brings us to Cycling.. you hear headlines about guys doping but they don't look any bigger... But aside from speed and endurance.. what else would they need from steriods, nothing much. Being bigger and stronger as a guard won't help you much against a center other trying to run around him but by then your defender is already at your heels. That's why i don't think many in the nba do use steriods...
But not hearing any news on the NBA side and steriod use is either very fishy or the NBA has such a strict policy that they haven't found any of substanial cause to make a ruckus out of it.

I can't begin to tell you how completely off base you are with almost every single comment you made above. If you think HGH is a steroid you shouldn't be commenting on the matter of performance enhancing drugs, let alone guaranteeing that NBA players are doping.

Even if James and Howard are doping, you think the NBA would let that knowledge out in the public? Just like what Baseball did, they want to protect their best players and most marketable.

I never said HGH was a steroid buddy. It is a peformaning enhancing drug. It is often linked with sterioids because of its effects. So why dont u read my posts over buddy

Bulking up and being bigger as a Power Forward and a Center would help improve your game tremendously, especially in the paint or posting up and or rebounding, now add in speed and endurance, you can become a offensive and defensive monster.

IIRC don't "banned substances" also make it easier for guys to work out every day? Or perhaps a veteran player to do back-to-backs or a star to play 40+ minutes in 4 games in 5 days?

Re: O.T. STEROIDS AND THE NBA
The NBA should not get involve in a steroid investigation....
....but every player should be checked on international competition. For your information, US players are not checked because arrange between NBA and FIBA was "we send our best players but we make our own drug test" wich they are fun tests about marihuana and stuff like that. (NBA is more concern about drugs than doping).
So NBA can still be a great show, and we still can see great human highlight acomplishments there, and the Olympics and world championships get clean if USA sends players with no extra-bulk, extra-speed or extra-resistance, like every other country but US seems to know. Noone noticed how skinny rest of the countries players are? Why they don't work themselves?....
...nuff advantge already with traveling violation not called in order to win everything

No, you should get your facts straight first and then post.
Even thought at time I dont agree with fareweatherMAN, yet this time he is correct.
Honestly I have addressed this on G.B well over 200+ post and A LOT OF people seem to have no clue or idea about this subject and the last thing I want to do is sit on this board (Lakers) and get in an argument with my brahhs about this subject.
BUT SLICK you are wrong brahh.

It is definitely possible there is illegal usage in the NBA. But I bet most of the usage is for healing injuries and rehabbing quicker.
