Vick's days with the Falcons over?

Post#1 » by Buck You » Sat Aug 18, 2007 7:25 am

ORCHARD PARK, NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Prior to his team's preseason game with the Buffalo Bills on Friday, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank indicated that star quarterback Michael Vick's days with the club are probably over

Do you think his days in the NFL are over also? If he ends up playing again, what team do you all think he'll play for?

Most likely. It's a shame. He was going to be perfect for the offense Petrino is implementing. The only thing that will keep him out of the NFL is himself. He's far too talented to not find a job whenever he's done serving his punishment.

This is really a sad situation all around. The Falcons were really thinking that Vick could lead them to the promise land with Bobby P but now Joey Harrington is going to be the starter.....Sorry ATL

Michael Vick, starting QB of the Toronto Arganauts

Atleast Atlanta has a shot at Brian Brohm now.

Damn that sucks for the Falcons. Having a player that good just entering his prime and them losing him over something this stupid (Im not saying Vick is right in this case or anything)

The dark cloud over Atlanta sports continues. I'm ready for the day the decision is made, so the Atlanta Falcons can move on from this, and to start the search for the new starting QB.

He shouldn't play in the NFL again, that's for sure. Meanwhile, the Falcons are getting screwed over just because their star quarterback is a lunatic

Why shouldn't he play in the NFL again? Professional athletes are infamous for all kinds of abuse against women, but whenever it happens it's usually quickly brushed under the rug. But when an athlete is allegedly involved with dog fighting, it's all over the news every day. I'm not defending Vick's actions (if he is indeed guilty), it's just funny how people seem to value a dog's life over a human's.

I can't recall what exactly happened, but didn't Michael Pittman ram his SUV into a car his wife and child were trying to escape in? Did he receive any punishment for that?

The difference between the past and present is Goodell the Hun. Hes put too much limelight on him with the Pacman and Henry suspensions and by denying Odell Thurman a second season even though he was pretty law abiding during his suspension.

If Odell Thurman gets two years you can only imagine what will happen to Vick.

well those women didn't die by hanging or drowning. no one here is condoning beating your spouses or others but remember those dogs paid their life because they couldn't performance well in fights... that's just cruel... he allegedly killed 5+ dogs by cruel fashion... it's a lot more serious than wife beating... so i don't get why people think wife beating is a lot more serious than this..

an yes, i don't get why odell got two years suspension... seems like goodell is making an example out of him.. i hope goodell give a good reason for that or else odell should seek help from union or the justice system to help him out.

Humans > Dogs

And I don't believe Vick himself killed any dogs.

Michael Pittman was suspended for three games and spent had 14 days in jail to think about what he did. He drove his hummer into the car that had his infant son, wife and babysitter in it. Michael has had a history of violence and had been suspended before.

According to the indictment, dogs that didn't show enough fighting spirit, or that lost matches, were put to death by a variety of methods, including shooting, drowning, hanging and electrocution. Prosecutors allege that on one occasion earlier this year, Vick participated in killing eight dogs.

lets not do "humans >>> animals" here... a life is a life and dogs are protected under the law.

I know that's one of the things he has been accused by people of doing, but I said in my personal opinion I'd be shocked if he actually killed a dog himself. And the "humans > dogs" thing applies because my point was the media attention each gets.

so you're saying "wife beating >>>> dog killing"?

one is domestic violence and the other one is federal offense. there is a major difference..

Put it this way, if my step dad killed my dog, I'd beat his ass.

If my step dad beat my mom, I'd blow his brains out.

And I love my dog, he was one of my best friends.

why wouldn't blow your step dad's brains out if he killed your dog?

i just think it's stupid to bring in the wife beating argument... those players have suspended and fined.. it's not like they got away without paying their dues.. plus, those were domestic offense not federal offense... also, michael vick is a major sports star not some scrappy starter on some team.. so of course the media is going to focus more on the michael vick trail.
