Lakers' pay roll next year....

Post#1 » by lakeshow248 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:36 pm

Kobe 23 million (player opt), Pau 16.4, Andrew 12.5, Morrison 5.2, Fish 5, Sasha 5, Luke 4.8, Farmar 1.9.

8 players under contract at 73.8 million.

My best guess if they come back. Odom 8 million, Ariza 5, Powell 1.0, S Brown 1 million.

That would be a number of 88.8 million with 12 players with possibly 3 more to add. So your looking at 90 million. Is the Buss family willing to go that high over the cap and lose an additional dollar for dollar amount. I sure hope so.

If Ariza is indeed back then he most likely takes the MLE and the Lakers probably won't add an note worthy free agents. Best case scenario is that Jason Kidd gives a big discount and hooks up with a winner like the Lakers'.

Fisher, Farmar, Brown, Kobe, Sasha, Odom, & Walton..................7 guys that can handle the ball in the triangle.

Starting PG Fisher and Farmar gets rest of minutes.................why pay to add a 3rd PG? Whose minutes does Kidd take?

I am not for adding Kidd, unless you trade Farmar or Fisher retires.......but Kidd only has 1 or 2 good years left.

Pass on the Kidd

I think Powell has a team option for about 800k, im pretty sure about that.

Odom at 9 and Ariza at about 5 would make sense. We'll see what happens. Hopefully they can both come back.

bryant/gasol/bynum/vujacic/walton/morrison/fisher/farmar

8 players with guaranteed deals

powell/yue/mbenga

3 players with unguaranteed deals under 1 mil each that will most likely be brought back.thats 11 players.

resign ariza/odom and you got 13. add a 1st round pick and its 14. i wouldn't be surprised to see the lakers sell their pick and just sign a minimum contract player like shannon brown.

Well Dr. Buss said he's willing to pay the money as long as the team is winning. The question is would he be willing to to have a roster at $90 million.

ARIZA IS THIS YEARS SAHSA WHO WAS LAST YEARS LUKE WALTON

All these players are good role players but they ALL have cashed in after great performances in contract years and the Lakers have overpaid some.

There is so much love for players when they first improve that GM usually overpay for players. Earlier in the season most fans were willing to trade LO for a bag of chips and valued Ariza more. I love Ariza but the CANT pay him more than 4 a year. LO needs to stay.

Conspiracy Theory: Phil Jackson removed LO from the starting line-up so the Lakers could keep this team together. ITS TOUGH LOVE REALLY. Phil being the Zen Master and all knows that LO will be happier in LA winning 5 championships than being the star player on the Clippers. Phils mission this year was 1 to get a ring a 2 to win a ring w/ LO as a 6th man so he would take 6th man money and the Lakers can win 6 championships in 8 years (2 3-peats!)

Do it Dr. Buss. I think it all comes down to whether we win the championship or not. If we win, he'll definitely want to retain the core team to go for another one. If not, they will definitely be some changes... hopefully for the good.

The Lakers are the best team in the NBA, are young, only getting better, and all grandfathered into the system. The Lakers body of work since trading for Gasol (the last 100+ games, where they've been more dominate than anybody), is far more 'telling' than whether or not they win a do-or-die playoff series.

This team is a dynasty, we don't need the NBA finals to confirm that.

Ariza has early "Bird" rights he doesn't have to sign the MLE.
