Joe (Seattle, WA): What are the rumors on the Cavs and Wally's fat expiring contract. Are they still standing pat? What deals are likely or being rumored?

John Hollinger: I think they're looking for a home run like L.A. got with Gasol a year ago, and if nothing like that comes open then they'll be content to play it out as is. By the way, is anyone else enjoying Wally's Please Don't Send Me to Sacramento tour lately? I've seen a contract push before, but this might be the first Don't Trade Me push that I can remember.

Adam (Sacramento): What players on the Kings are not on the trade block and why?

John Hollinger: Kevin Martin. That's the list. Everyone else can be had, and a lot of them can be had for not much if it involves expiring contracts. It would take something special to pry Thompson from them though.

Colin (Sacramento): Why no Kevin Martin on the trade block? He might be a pure scorer, but has no defense and is lacking leadership. How do you build a team around that?

John Hollinger: I think lack of leadership is a bit harsh -- what, you think he can magically turn Beno Udrih into John Stockton? He does need to improve his D, but he's also on a very friendly deal given his production.

Thanks for the info bro...i can see salmons and miller being moved...unfortunately i think we are stuck with stinko udrih

Some more from hoopsworld...

chris in new york, NY:
big kings fan here have you heard any rumors that are legit and Sacramento is willing to make?
Tommy Beer:
The Kings will be working the phones diligently over the next 8 days – hoping to move Kenny Thomas – and dangling Brad Miller and Mikki Moore. But it takes two to tango, and Sacramento will need someday willing to dance. Stay tuned – as rumors should really start to heat up after the All-Star break.

Not a real surprise there. I wish SOMEONE would say SOMETHING about an actual rumor...ugh.

The more I think about it, the more I think that we might have to accept not getting anything but expirings for Brad. Yeah, he's a useful player, but that's a lot of money to take on in this current economic climate. I just think that may lower his value a bit. I couldn't see a team trading for him at least unless he really will be the difference between contender and pretender.

Smills i have to agree...im getting tired of him being nothing more than a one dimensional player. I honestly think we need to deal him and im not kidding. Hes nothing but a scorer.

He's showing flashes of much improved playmaking though. He's getting pretty good at running the pick and roll.

Pure expirings for him wouldn't be all that bad IMO. It's like what should have happened after Bibby was dumped. If we dumped Brad we would at least get significant cap room this time.

The crummy thing was before you could wait until the last year of an expiring and it would get more valuable but this year I haven't seen any expiring contracts go yet. We'll see. I imagine that the cap and salaries will have to get a big adjustment to continue in the future. I think it expires 2010 summer. No way a guy like Miller or Marion should be making 10+ mil at this stage of their careers. I could see them putting a max contracts at $10 mil.

He moved back up from the d-league relatively quickly. He probably would not be available for a late 1st--at least not until draft night, and only then if there was somebody in particular who Geoff really, really liked at that spot.

The reason why you want him is the reson why he's not readily available, especially for a late pick.
