He has ALWAYS BEEN and STILL IS one of the most clutch performers in the NBA - and not just with his shooting - but his assists. Even with bad teams between 2003 and 2006, he had more clutch ASSISTS than anyone in the NBA (see 82games.com). He is right there with Kobe and Lebron and Melo and Chauncey and a few others at the end of games.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

He was nasty tonight in the 4th. In my opinion he's the most clutch player in the NBA.

I'll say we got 2 of the 3 clutches players in the league. Which is why I'm so confident in this team getting #18 and winning back-to-back for the first time since 69.

OT- Are you MMM?

I wouldn't want any player in the league taking a big shot for me...

I think Pierce really believes he's that cool, and plays this in his head 24/7.

Well, Garnett's learning what Antoine knew: Paul's cool like that. You need a player to be cool under pressure and that's what makes one clutch. They don't sweat the details. Just get me the rock and watch me go with it. If I miss, they'll be other chances. If I make it, I didn't tell you I wasn't going to make it. Pierce has a lot of confidence in himself. Boston needs his confidence. Ray's a clutch player in his own way. But, Pierce can create a shot opportunity for himself or draw a foul or act as a decoy. While the Big Ticket is indeed a big target. A player who's deadly on the lob plays and a heart breaker from mid range. But, Kevin's too selfless to be a go-to guy for this team.

Paul Pierce - I do hear Digable Planets playing in the background.

He isn't called "The Truth" for nothing. He looked so tired and lacadazical in the first 3 quarters, but was amazing in the 4th.

Once again Pierce proves his nickname in last night's victory. He's no doubt the most clutch basketball player this franchise has had since Bird. I mean Pierce having the awareness to pass out to a teammate, Ray Allen, was clutch. A clutch player isn't only about converting a last second shot. Pierce has had his fair share of those. It's also about being a leader, being a player your team relies on to score when points are needed and the team's struggling offensively. Pierce seemingly possesses an unlimited amount of confidence in himself as a player and his head coach and teammates feel confident in him as well. And last night is a prime example of what it means to be a clutch performer in a crunch. That's not to take anything away from Ray or to minimize his feats as a Celtic. However, Pierce shows us as Celtics fans that being such requires a lot more from you that only a certain few oftentimes pull off.

Simply, a clutch player in the NBA finds ways to win games.

Objective look at game-winners.
http://www.82games.com/gamewinningshots.htm
Ray Allen you'll notice in 3rd and since this wasn't updated since Feb 4th. He might be 2nd in the league at the moment. I don't remember when we played that game in Philadelphia, but that would add to his total.

Pierce, trails Ray, Lebron, Kobe, Carmelo and others by a little bit in game winning shots, but if you look at game winning assists, he is the clear leader. He has also had at least two more game winning assists since the page was updated. One last night, and the other in San Antonio to BBD a couple of weeks ago.

I would say 95% or so do. Hard to believe it's not 100%, but there's always going to be a small minority of haters for everything for whatever reason.

Not sure who the last posters are referring to because I myself think highly of both Pierce and Ray Allen. But, when we're talking about the Celtics. Pierce's "the man" period. And I already explain why to those that bothered to read it.

I don't mean this as a crack because I don't know how else you would describe it but doesn't the "best...since Bird" seem so cheap now? It is just a different level now.

I just watched Ray hit that shot again, sweet. As great as the duo of Pierce and Ray are I actually think that Rondo has gone to school as well. While there was no excuse for the first 3 1/2 quarters. He stepped to the line and tied it up and lets face it that isn't his strong suit. I am starting to think this team is going to be impossible to defend in late game situations.

Some love for Doc Rivers as well. I just remember all the **** he got when he first came here but the things he talked about implementing back then are so much the back bone of this team now. Doc is probably the best play caller out of a timeout in the game but he has been able to implement that in this team. From the beginning he wanted a team that didn't have to call a timeout in a game ending situation that could execute like his team did last night.
