Rumors from Heathmalc Cleveland Forum

Post#1 » by Celts17Pride » Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:25 pm

Quick note: For those that either don't like what I post, or just dislike me... Ignore the post...how hard is that? Is your life so boring that you have nothing better to do with it than to come up with negative things to say about someone you don't know? As a basketball fan, take what I say with a grain of salt...just like any other rumor. If you enjoy what I have to say... then I'm glad that I give you something to read. As for what I posted on page 20... these are rumors flying around the sportsbar.... it could be absolute trash rumors, started by someone just to talk, or there may be something to them...I have only posted stuff that has been repeated a lot... so, like I said...take it for what it is worth; IE: The rumors come from a sportsbar.

Updates: Dallas and Houston seem to be talking about Vince Carter. There is also something on INSIDEHOOPS about Dallas being interested in Carter... IH believes that Howard & Stackhouse would be traded for Vince. The trade does make a lot of sense for both teams - there was a link, but you can find it yourself I am sure.

The Cavaliers seem to be being talked about A LOT as far as Amare goes...which is against the earlier stuff that Chris Broussard said (The Cavs were talking to Phoenix, but not about Amare)... Anyway, the trade-scenario that is mentioned the most is the Cavaliers sending Wally, Gibson, JJ, and a 1st round pick for Amare & Goran Dragic. The secend most talked about version has the Cavaliers sending Delonte instead of Gibson...everything else is the same.......... There was a little bit of talk about Jefferson (Milwaukee) also, but I haven't heard anything about him since yesterday morning.... Vince Carter and Amare are the two players everyone is talking about. For fellow Cavalier fans... you'll be happy to hear that the Cavs are considered the most likely destination for Amare...and the 2nd most likely for Vince. Absolutely EVERYONE believes the Cavaliers will make a BIG trade... and I mean EVERYONE!!!!

Other stuff: John Salmon fans...you may have to goto Oklahoma to see him continue to play. There appears to be a deal almost in-place that would send Joe Smith, & a 2nd round pick to the Kings for Salmons. Clippers are trying to dump Baron Davis..Ironically Neil Olshey was at the bar, and when people was talking about Baron being shopped , he didnt act surprised...but when they taked about Camby, he seemed to act like the people talking were idiots...so it may be true that they aren't moving Marcus...Houston is shopping Artest's expiring; supposedly for Vince Carter, but there hasn't been any talk about him going to Houston, at-least at the SB. There has been some talk about a Salmons for Artest deal, but nobody believes this, as Artest just got traded from Sac-town...prolly a fan made rumor, that got some steam behind it. Celtics are said to be shopping Powe and Davis...but that may be BS also. Lakers may make a deal with Portland for Diogu...The Cavs were also mentioned as a destination for Diogu...as has Orlando and Boston. Dallas seems to be the team most determined to make a deal, as there have been rampant rumors about every player on the team (except the big German), going to every team in the league. Toronto GM BC turned down a deal that would have netted Salmons. Memphis reportedly has turned down 2 deals, one that would have landed Amare, and the other that would have landed Vince Carter. There has also been whispers of San Antonio interested in RJ...which would be a surprise trade, if it happened. Atlanta has been being mentioned more frequently in the last 24 hours...mostly concerning Horford being dealt. Miami may be interested in Oneal again....and while we are talking about Miami...there has been some whispers about Marion to Cleveland. As I am typing, the person being talked about right now is Shaq, and that Dallas, Cleveland and the Spurs may be interested in him (I have no idea how the Spurs get him...or why).

FWIW,

Interesting Stuff. Joe Smith getting traded to Sca then bought out could help the Celtics. Not sure why the Celtics would want Diogu. Heathmalc updates often so at the very least it's entertaining. Take a look.

If Amare goes to Cleveland, Steve Kerr should be fired. He can get more than what Cleveland's offering. I can definitely see Shaq going to Cleveland though and VC to Dallas.. VC back with JKidd could make Dallas pretty dangerous.

Thanks for the rumor it makes life interesting.

The Joe Smith concept sounds great but I am not convinced BOS will be the destination especially if CLE opens up some frontcourt mins.

Not a fan of Diogu, and BOS can't get him with Powe and Davis and why would they? Diogu is an expiring deal so it may be a case of a 2 or 3 for 1 and maybe moving Diogu on a for a bigger contract.

I just don't understand the Amare to CLE thing. Why would you ask for Wright, Gay, and Conley from Memphis and take World, Boobie or West, and Hickson. Why not Scal, TA, and Giddens?

Am I the only one who thinks that Richard Jefferson is the guy for CLE? Sniper from 3 who was a good a defender at one time at least. MIL is desperate to move him. VC just does not make any sense to me at all, frankly I love it I think it will fracture the Cavs but it just seems like a Steve Kerr trade.

Richard Jefferson's a much better fit than Vince Carter... Although I think Cleveland needs a big man. Ben Wallace has very little left in the tank.

I'm not too sure about that one. Joe might still be hurting from the fact that they traded him. And FWIW, a guy from Hoopsworld who covers the Bulls mentioned a few weeks ago in his chat that he was good friends with Joe. They talked about what would happen if he were to be bought out. Joe said something along the lines that he was flattered that his name was being mentioned in rumors linking him to the Cavs, but when the writer mentioned the Celts, that brought a huge smile out of Joe.

If the Cavs do net Amare, Joe Smith would be playing behind Z, Amare, Wallace, and possibly fighting for minutes with Varejao. And even if they didn't, the Cavs would still be deep. Coming to the Celts would mean he'd surely be the first big man off the bench. Joe's also pretty tight with KG, so I like our chances of landing him.

Both Baby and Powe can go. If I had to choose to keep one I'd pick Powe. Baby looks like he thinks he's better then he actually is.

UPDATE from Heathmalc

I just heard an EXTREMELY interesting story... whether it is true or not, I have no idea...however, if it is made-up, the person that thought this up deserves an award of some kind.

What I just heard:

The Phoenix Suns have a deal in-place with both Chicago and with Cleveland for Amare Stoudemire. This isn't the part that is "interesting," as one of these two teams are expected to land him. What was interesting, is what I heard was the reason that the Cavaliers' deal would be the one that was accepted: Apparently, Sarver (Phoenix Owner) has all of his money tied up in real estate, and he has lost 1/4 of a billion dollars... well, Cavaliers' owner Dan Gilbert is also in real estate, and mortgage insurance... supposedly, Gilbert is willing to help Sarver get out of some of his troubles (non NBA) in return for a favorable deal for Gilbert's basketball team (The Cavs).

The story is interesting because, as it turns out, Owners have made back-room deals like this before, and it is completely within the rules of the NBA. Another reason it is interesting is because of what Amare's agent said about him (the agent) wanting Amare on a "winning" team, and Amare supposedly saying that Cleveland was his preferred choice.

The intrigue continues..

Maybe we should turn this into a TradeDealine STICKY?

Amare, Lebron, Big Z, M. Williams and D. West would be a real tough unit.

Hope it doesn't happen.

Salmons would be great but I'd rather keep Scal if possible. Give em TAllen, Giddens Baby & Cassell.
