Yahoo Sports:

PHOENIX – Believing that Amare Stoudemire could make the difference with winning an NBA title and ultimately keeping LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers made a bid to the Phoenix Suns for the All-Star power forward, two league sources familiar with the offer said Friday.

Cleveland general manager Danny Ferry offered the expiring contract of Wally Szcerbiak, rookie J.J. Hickson and a first-round pick for Stoudemire earlier in the week, sources said. Anderson Varejao was mentioned in a possible scenario too, sources said.

Nevertheless, the proposal has generated little enthusiasm out of Suns GM Steve Kerr.

Come on guys no name calling...remember when we heard about the Shaq trade last year? That came out of nowhere, some guys are legit and others aren't. So wait til something happens/doesn't happen and then abuse the piss out of him/kiss his butt ;)

Even Sarver knows if they replace Amare with another SG, a late late draft pick, and a "who is that" rookie that plays 10mpg he will lose ticket sales. It will be a cost cutting move that would make him LOSE money.

You have to be absolutely stoned to think this will get a green light.

my bad tastic, but the the shaq trade did not involve junk like this rumor? Im also going to say that 90 – 95% of guys who say they have a “legit” source is most of the time BS.

These cavs fans are making me laugh. Its like an early april fools.

What JJ said:

“Would I expect it for Amaré? No, I wouldn’t,” Johnson said. “But it’s a tough business. It comes with being a professional. ... A good team only lasts 3 to 4, maybe 5 years. You really have to take advantage of it. When I was here, we were the youngest team, but we were sitting right at the top. I thought we had a lot more room for improvement, and who knows how good we could have been?

“I don’t want to say it’s coming to and end, but it’s been a tough streak for them.”

i tell you i can't believe it myself especially not if the deal will be wally, jj and a pick but i know how legit this guy from the cavs board is. he works within the organisation and has a lot of friends around the league even in the phoenix organisation.....if i would be a suns fan i would be just as angry as you now. but i'm out now i will come back when it's official

that amare deal with JJ hickson is the WORST deal i have seen yet for amare

and you know what, it wouldnt suprise me if it actually did happen because thats what seems to be happening around Ptown at the moment :-(

i think hickson is really really solid and im sure if we keep nash that we could use the MLE or something to sign a solid FA, BUT neither hickson nor any FA we sign would be better than amare...

we need to realise that he is the only franchise type player we have who is capable of being on a suns championship team in 5 years and start building a team around that. building around shaq and nash is fun and all, but if were not going to win this year, then the future right now is amare - trade the others, heck at this point i would trade nash in a deal that brought back calderon because the suns arent winning a title now and we need to start finding pieces for our next run at the ring in a few years, not trading one of the few that we already have

Ok, lets get off of this junk that some are saying.

I read that OK city is jumping in the amare trade. they have youth, expiring contracts and high picks. Things the suns would be more intersted in then just some others are thinking of. would we be intersted in durant or green? wilcox or smith? Watson maybe as a backup? What about all the picks they have?

I still think it would be a huge mistake to trade amare. I think most of the trades out there are going to make this team hurt for the next decade just like the barkely trade did.

durant isnt going anywhere, but a package of wilcox green smith and watson for amare, and throwins would suit me to a tea IF we had to trade him

im discussing amare trades and wanting the best deal, but i agree, i would much rather keep him as per my above post

IF we're dealing with OK, I'd ask for Westbrook and go from there....that kid is awesome already...

Pass on Green, I think he's peaked as a bigger than Prince intangible type guy...not something that gets my blood flowing ;)

I'll throw in my two cents, I have no idea if Cleveland and Phx will end up making a deal....but Wine and Gold is a very legit source.

I am sure Cleveland made an offer and is interested purely as insurance to keep James, but there won't be a mutual interest unless Cav's can put together a better deal with a 3rd team that brings top picks.

Yeah I'm an avid reader of those Cavs forums at Wine and Gold is very reputable.

That said, if this is the deal, Phoenix deserves better and more importantly, Phoenix's fans deserve better management and organization and foresight.

To be quite honest, as a Cavs fan, I hope there is a third team involved (like OKC) to send more assets to Phoenix because a deal around Wally, Hickson, and a late first is something that shouldn't net a player of Amare's caliber. This is purely for the sake of getting away from these lopsided Gasol/maybe Amare type deals.

While part of the Cavs fan in me is ecstatic - I would also feel off to steal Amare from the Suns - not for the organization, but for the fans who can't control management's decisions.

Noone is denying that Wine and Gold is not legit it's just he says nothing of importance in his post.

Return to Phoenix Suns
