Who is going to make the 53 man roster?
QB's are set- Leak will be cut (3)
RB's are set with Wolfe, Peterson, Benson, McKie, suspended Obafemi for 4 games and then he may bump someone (4)
Receivers- this is interesting. I believe we will only keep 5. Brandon Rideau or Mike Hass have an outside chance with Rideau more likely if we decide to keep 6. (5)
TE- Gilmore, Clark, Olsen are all locks. (3)
OL - With our line so old I would keep more than 8 like we did last year. Beekman, St Clair are probably locks. The battle will come down to Metcalf and Oakley. I say we keep both. (9)
DL - Backup Adams should be a lock with a rotation of Harris, Dvoracek, and Walker at DT. At DE a rotation of Brown, Anderson, and Ogunleye with Bazuin a lock since he is a rookie picked in the 2nd round. The only battle will be between Garay and Idonije. I think either Idonije gets traded or Garay will be waived. I think Garay gets cut because Idonije can play both DE and DT as well as special teams. (9)
LB- This tough because there are some good special team guys here. I do not see us keeping more than 7. Maybe Briggs gets traded? I here Jamar Williams looks good. I think Briggs, Urlacher, Hillenmeyer, Williams will be the rotation. Brendon and Okwo (rookie 3rd round pick) are locks. If we keep 7 the battle will be between Joe, McClover and Wilson. I believe they are all good special teams players. Who ever stands out over the next three preseason games will get the nod. Barring injury or trade that opens another spot, I think only Joe will make the team. (7)
DBs-This is pretty much set barring injury. Safeties should be Brown, Archuleta, D. Manning, McGowan, Payne. CB should be Vasher, Tillman, R. Manning, McBride, and Graham (R 5th rounder). I read the Bears like Fassitt but I just do not see any room for him unless he beats out Graham. If he does I still see him getting cut because we are not going to cut a 5th rounder unless he just sucks terribly. I think we cut a DL guy that was taken in the 4th or 5th round a few years ago because he just sucked. Can't remember his name though. I think it was in the same draft as T. Harris? Anyway we should keep (10).
Special Teams- Kicker-Gould, Punter-Maynard, Snapper-Mannelly. I guess Mannelly appears not replaceable? I would think there could be someone else on the team that could snap the ball. It seems like a waste to cut one of your other outstanding prospects to just keep a snapper. It looks like we will keep all three. (3)
There is my 53 man roster. I think Obafemi will return the 5th game. Someone will probably get put on Injured Reserve by the 5th game.
Any one wish to discuss who they think is on the bubble or who they think will make the team?

With the Bears having such an experienced and veteran team this year there isn't as much roster speculation as most teams have every year.
You have pretty well named the heavy favorites at every position and there can't be much argument about any of them.
One question should be WR where the Bears should keep (6) for sure because of the uncertainty about Bradley. He's been in and out with knee swelling from just ordinary work for a WR and I think he may have a chronic problem for his whole career and never certain to be available regularly.
Hass would be a great one to keep and Ball looked outstanding and showed why he was the all-time collegiate receiver in the Texans game.
But Rideau should probably be the choice because of his size and athleticism and he is a good Special Teams player.
I think he may be the one to replace Moose when the time comes for that.
Defensive line will probably be (9) with Idonije being one of them because they are using him on Special Teams and he can play either DE or DT. The decision will probably be between Bazuin and Garay and depend on Bazuin's leg or knee. He's been out the whole training camp, so he may go on IR and that would let Garay in. If Bazuin gets healthy he probably stays on the roster and Garay gets cut.
The last 2 or 3 spots are going to be real tough to decide between the last couple LB and last couple DB's you name and Obafemi A.
In the mix - Safetys - McGowan, Payne
CBs - Graham
LBs - McClover, Wilson
Overall, the Bears have as good of depth as I can ever remember so their roster selection is going to be more who has to go than who do we have that we can keep.
