what would giddens/walker get us?

Post#1 » by Bcustom28k » Sat Feb 14, 2009 4:30 pm

I think the C's are gonna add a veteran, whether it be joe smith if he gets bought out, marbury, or maybe even antoine walker (last resort, I think he could have a role on this team)

so in order to do this we have to free up a roster spot.

What do you guys think we could get for giddens and walker plus scal/baby

could that get us a low salary player and a draft pick

Maybe giddens+scal for 2nd round pick and dorrel wright or something.

I dont care who we get back, im more interested in the pick and the roster space.

There value is too low to get anything of value right now. Besides I think its too soon to trade them. Who knows how good they can be.

Well Maybe some team will just want to dump a player for the capspace, like the Suns did with Kurt Thomas, What they get two second round pics and they gave up KT and TWO firsts was it?

We gotta find a ground score like this, a vet who can help NOW!!! It's not like Joe Johnson again where we're a middle of the pack team trying to make a run. Now were in the top 1% of teams trying to win it all. If we can flipp Giddens, Gabe, Tony, Scal, Baby, and what little pics we have left for a quality big who can hit a jumper we HAVE to go for it.

I hate to be classic Boston fan but We should have signed James Posey and Joe Smith this past off season...

We could probably get Matt Bonner if we threw in a second rounder.
Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...

If we're going to clear a roster space, we'll do it by cutting Cassell. If nobody of note gets bought out, I think Antoine does become an option at some point.

As for trades, Danny's not the kind of guy to sell low on young talent. Giddens/Walker both have a chance to be above-average NBA players (or better) and Danny's not going to give them away at the trading deadline to pick up a short-term veteran. The other guys you mentioned probably have more value on our team then what they'd bring us back in a trade. Danny's not one to make lateral trades, ones that make us different but not better. Also, if we exchange one set of limited players for another team's set of limited players, we'll need a certain amount of time to integrate them into the offense/defense. I think we're going to roll with what we have....with the possibility that we'll add someone off the waiver wire. I don't think any trades are coming.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

Yes - its not like Ainge to cash out on two high-upside rookies who have had little chance to establish market value - both project into starting caliber players from a pure skill/talent standpoint because they are fantastic athletes with two-way ability...rare to let talent like that go when its market value is currently 10 mpg role playing vet rentals...

I'd say Cassell and POB are the first to go off this roster if the team can add something at either position...

The Nets would be willing to part with Maurice Ager... Do you guys really want Maurice Ager (please take him!)?

I agree, I may be one of the only ones but I'm pretty high on what Giddens could eventually bring to this team, he's good at everything, scoring, passing, defending, and rebounding. Walker I think we all have a little love for from what he's shown, but neither of these rooks has established anything. POB hasn't either, but in the event of a trade more teams will gamble on a young, long, athletic big than a wing player (cept maybe Golden State ;)).

Did you know...

JR Giddens' McDonald's All-American Game Teammates were Kendrick Perkins & Leon Powe?

Keep em together. Package Scal, Baby, & Walker/Tony

Mid-season is not the best time to trade any of
Giddens, Walker or Pruitt.

Their "value" will be much higher around the draft,
when teams see how crappy the choices are at wing,
and the lack of defensive minded PGs.

Also, teams will be planning their rosters for the next season,
and some will have open spots that just aren't there now due to
contracts that have not yet expired (despite no plans to renew).

Around the draft, I can see
Giddens going for a 23 thru 29 pick,
Pruitt for a 31 to 35 pick,
and Walker I think may be held onto for another season.

Unfortunately,
if Ainge is looking to free up two roster spots now,
in case Steph and J Smith are bought out,
then he'd probably waive Sam Cassell,
and see if their is a taker for Giddens or Pruitt
who will make a reasonable offer now.

If Phoenix decides to blow it up,
and Grant Hill is willing to come to the Celtics versus retire,
I think Phoenix would take Giddens and Pruitt for Grant Hill.

Return to Boston Celtics
