Well seems like you guys are reacting wrongly to this.
The appropriate reaction should be to ask yourselves....
Why would a team with a legit 20/10 guy with an expiring contract (he'll opt out) trade him for Artest's expiring contract. Both expire and the team within the conference (us) gets the better player. Could they need Scola that badly with Milshap already occupying that position and doing it well?
Two things to note. This trade will never happen. Utah would never trade him unless they knew he couldn't play and contribute. So if they offer him to us its because he is done for the season and they are not telling anyone. Morey is a lot of things...but stupid isn't one. This is just a rumor made up by some noob. We can do way better for Artest and we wouldn't have to give up Scola.

...What? No. The four is our most productive position by far. Between Landry and Scola, we're going to score more than enough points at PF. That's the last position that needs to be addressed. I can't believe we're involved in all of these rumors, yet our glaring weakness at PG continues to be overlooked.
No what I meant was I want more offense from the PF position. Scola is good, but Boozer is better. And btw, I didn't see anything about this on clutchfans.

George Bush has a better chance getting a call from Obama to join his staff than Artest does getting traded to the Utah Jazz.

Boozer has 1 more yr on his contract-and it's a player option. He's told Utah-and everybody else-he's going to excercise his option and be a FA this coming summer.(and everybody assumed early on he was headed to Miami.)
Yeah, including this year's salary, that's 2 years. I know you've put it in a different context but I always include the current year when I talk about salaries.
Boozer have also said he'll stay with Cleveland and intended to sign a six-year, $38 million dollar contract. I'll take his words with a grain of salt.

With his skills, he's capable of getting more than 12 million dollars elsewhere.

Somebody posted a thread on clutchfans. Saying that hoopsworld is reporting the trade.

Houston radio today is reporting that the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz are discussing a trade that would land Carlos Boozer in Houston in exchange for Ron Artest and Luis Scola. There is no confirmation from either side of the equation, and no reason to believe this is anything more than Trade Deadline Rumor #2,178.

Re: Boozer to Houston?
gawd no.
The only real upside is that Boozer won't be able to torch Yao in the playoffs again should we meet the Jazz.
Our PF situation is already very productive, especially when you factor in the salarys of Landry/Scola. Will Boozer's extra offensive production be proportionate to the amt we have to pay for him? No.
Plus: Boozer's man on man defense is about as bad as Landry/Scola, and, he's not nearly as savvy, hoops-wise, as Scola is on defense (w.r.t team defense), and he's undersized. IF we were to trade the mighty Scola for a PF, we ought to be targetting a tall, young, athletic shot-blocker type to compliment Yao. ie not Boozer.
Plus, plus: we need a PG upgrade more than a PF upgrade (as several others have said).
Plus, plus, plus (and most importantly): he's an evil grinning goon and I hate him.

Our owner isn't blind, where is the fun in bringing Boozer here? He wouldn't have anybody to screw over when he decides to leave for more $.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Re: Boozer to Houston?
Having been laughed off by most everyone, this deal actually makes perfect sense to me.
Why a great deal for Houston?
Well, Boozer is among the top three in the league in efficiency per 48 ... behind just Paul and James. Having Boozer on board this season (he should be ready to go this week), enhances the Houston chances of making a deep playoff run, esp. with Houston missing McGrady's scoring. Boozer is ideal for the pace of the Houston game.
Why a great deal for Boozer?
Houston 's a great city with great fans and many, many fans. The China promotional market seems to be especially good for Rocket players.
Caveat: The only way Houston makes this deal is if they have an understanding in place for a new contract with Carlos ... and that shouldn't be that hard to do.
Why for Utah?
They pick of a purportedly defense-oriented small forward for the stretch run and a very inexpensive power foward for this season and next in Scola. From a monetary sense, the deal is logical for Utah.
