David Lee - Are Kings fans interested?

Post#1 » by lowermerionfilms » Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:34 pm

The Knicks are obviously shopping David Lee. Would the Kings take him if the Knicks demanded they take Eddy Curry and Jared Jeffries, too? The deal would be Lee/Curry/Jeffries/Rose for Miller/Thomas/Moore. It extends your cap problems for one year, but do you really expect to land a free agent in 2010? Has a free agent of significance ever chosen to sign with Sacramento? Is there anyone you could acquire in the next few years better than 25 year old David Lee?

Kings will not take Curry and Jeffries to have the 'privlidge' of David Lee.

David Lee is nice but no way we are taking Curry's and Jefferies' deal as well. And besides Lee isn't the answer in Sacramento. He is still a very poor defender.

Why would we want to rent David Lee for a few months when you said yourself that no big time Free Agent will ever come to Sac? All I see is Lee leaving the kings in a few months, but terrible contracts remaining. We don't need those kind of stupid ideas on here. Thanks.

Are they??? One day I read they want to resign him, another he isn't available for Bosh (by Knicks fans), another he would be the sweetener for a Curry or Jeffries dump...

No. At best for the Knicks, only Jeffries, and it's still really doubtful.

No way is a team going to pay some $35mil just to get David Lee and then resign him for whatever ridiculous amount his agent demands. Think about it, any contract Lee gets will basically be $35mil more expensive due to Curry/Jeffries. If Lee is worth, say $9mil a year over 5 years then that means the Kings are really paying him 5 * $9mil + 35 = 80mil = $16mil a year.

Who the hell would pay $16mil a year for David Freaking Lee.

Yup--the responses sum it up. We're not taking on that much more money along with re-signing Lee, just to get Lee. Thompson really reduces our need for a guy like him.

must agree with my fellow Kings fans, Lee would be nice to have but not at the expense of Curry or Jeffries.

Kings just lost 25-28 million THIS season alone. THere's no way they ADD salary. Any deals are going to stay the status quo in terms of salary or slash salary.

Miller, Thomas, Moore

Saves Sac 20.5m in 2009/10 while adding 6.8m for 2010/2011

This is ridiculous and insulting. I don't often ask for locks, but ICMTM, please lock this nonsense.

I wouldn't call the idea of trading for Lee "ridiculous and insulting"...the offer may be...but the underlying idea of the Kings trading for Lee really isn't. Now I wouldn't put a high priority on getting him except for maybe in the right deal.

And I'm sure ICMTM would have locked this earlier if he really felt it was lock worthy (I really don't see it as lock worthy).
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.
