Seems to me that the article is just rehashing the situation in Sacramento.

Yeah, that article really doesn't say anything new. Just the typical OMG LOOK AT THIS, information we already have with a shocking headline.

It will NEVER happen. It's just stupid to even mention it. San Jose, Anaheim, Seattle, Kansas City, Louisville are all much more realistic and probable options if the Kings do end up moving.

Marcos Breton has some rebuttal thoughts on this in the Bee today: http://www.sacbee.com/kings/story/1626370.html
There was the rumor Thursday that the Kings owners were in Anaheim, shopping for a new city. That Anaheim and San Jose are hot for the Kings. That the Maloofs are panicking as a slumping economy – and a slumping Kings team – have turned a once-raucous Arco Arena into a funeral parlor with concession stands.

Give it a rest. There is a gaping chasm between fact and rumor here.

The facts: The Kings owners were not in Anaheim Thursday. San Jose and Anaheim want an NBA team, but that's been true for years.

There are negotiations under way to raise a new Kings arena at Cal Expo, and a meeting scheduled for Feb. 27 where state officials and the NBA are to unveil their proposal for the project.

NBA boss David Stern has staked his reputation on keeping the Kings in Sacramento. Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is working overtime to shower love on the Maloofs.

It's true the Kings play before empty seats, but that's not so much because the team is losing.

It's the way they are losing.

The Kings are small and slow. They don't defend or rebound well. They just seem to give up in games.

By record and reputation, they are the worst team in the NBA.

It's tough to get behind that kind of play when you're looking at pay cuts and furloughs, when you fear losing your job or your home.

The bottom line is that yes, the team is struggling, losing money and is in need of a new arena. But the city and league are still making active efforts to keep the team in Sacramento and it is the energy poured into those efforts that will control the fate of the team's future. While there will continue to be a risk of the Maloofs moving the team until a new arena is built, that risk will be low as long as the city, league and Maloofs continue to work in a good faith effort to get a mutually beneficial deal for a new arena worked out.

TThere's no way the kings are staying in Sacramento...Use a little logic..Look at it from the Maloofs perspective...They're gone..Book it Dano!!

You're the one who needs to use a little logic. Stern is not going to stick his neck out to have the league get heavily involved in negotiating a proposal for a new stadium in Sacramento then turn around and let the Maloofs move the team if they aren't happy. Every indication is that discussions between the league's negotiators, the city and Cal Expo have been productive. It is also known that a plan will be announced at the end of this month...a plan that the city, league and Cal Expo agree on. It will be political suicide for the Maloofs to reject that deal. That's the logic at play here.

This whole relocation thing is ridiculous. There's sooo much more involved in moving a team than these reports are letting on. As far as Anaheim and San Jose go there are MAJOR obstacles in the way of that. The Lakers, Clippers and Warriors have exclusivity and revenue rights in those markets. You can't just move a team into an established market because you want to. GS would NEVER let it happen. 3 teams in So Cal is crazy. The funny thing about both scenarios is in 5-10 years both markets will be due for new arenas as well. The Maloofs won't find any publicly funded arena's in CA any time soon. We can't even sell a bond to build new schools. How would the state/city justify a new arena for billionaire owners of a luxurious pro sports team. As far as Seattle goes. Yeah right. They're even further from a new arena than we are. Vegas won't happen (see gambling scandal a year ago). KC and Louisville are smaller markets and even less lucrative. In a year when unemployment levels hit 15-20% the Maloofs will be glad they're still in Sac with at the least a plan of a new arena. The NBA has a real image problem with these arena issues. People are growing sick of teams putting out a bad product and wondering why nobody spends there hard earned money to go to the game. Instead they just blame their failures on a dated arena and skip town. I doubt I'll be renewing my season tickets and I've had them since old arco.

Eh, I'm Louisville right now, but I'd rather them not come back here. East coast time SUCKS royally for sports.

I hope the Maloofs come to San Jose. They're ready for an NBA franchise.

I think that if we let the Kings go we can build an arena for the Hornets! I thin that is one way of solving our PG dilema.
