Hayden Fry Guy wrote:Bill Simmons Trade Value article has the following take:
Kevin Love: Bill Laimbeer 2.0 with better passing skills and without the Cobra Kai streak. You have to love a country where Love's best rookie card (Upper Deck's '09 SPX set, the signed autographed jersey card) goes for one-eighth the money of Beasley's card ... and yet, Miami could offer Beasley for Love right now and Minnesota would make a face and hang up. Whatever.
Beasley looks to be the better offensive player and Love looks to be the better rebounder. Beasley's attitidue/work ethic is questionable and Love's attitude/work ethic is admirable. So far, Love has been the better the rookie. But Miami calls you up right now and says they want to trade you Love for Beasley straight up, what do you say?

I read this at KFAN, and thought it was a great topic for a poll with the RealGMers. Vote.

Nah. As far as 2008 rookies, though, I'd still trade him straight up for Rose or Mayo.

Uh, yes in a heartbeat. Especially if the team can swing miller into something. Imagine turning the #3 pick into the 2, plus at worst cap space for marvin Williams or whomever

It doesn't matter where they were drafted anymore. If you like Beasley better than Love, fine. But don't trade him just because he was a higher pick.

Yawn. Beasly has wayyyyyy higher upside and could be a monster at the 3 which is where I'd play him, leaving mn in the position to draft a true c or 1
I bring up the draft pick portion because it's huge even in a trade down scenario like mn did we picked up a huge amount of value, add in the fact beasly. Is by far the highest upside and u can't say no. Love is in fact my fav wolf, but it's just business

I would rather keep Love. A Beasley/Love frontcourt would be interesting.

player: Beasley / Love
PPG 13.3 / 9.4
RPG 5.3 / 8.7
APG 0.9 / 1.2
SPG 0.5 / 0.4
BPG 0.5 / 0.6
FG% 0.455 / 0.451
FT% 0.768 / 0.775
3P% 0.382 / 0.143
MPG 24.3 / 23.8
I haven't seen Beasley play yet this year, but I still would take him based on what I saw in his college game.

Re: VOTE: Trade Love for Beasley?
I hate to even type this, but after Rose the player I'd want most in that draft class is Brook Lopez. I saw him quite a bit at Stanford and thought he's be somewhere between Spencer Hawes and Brad Miller, but after watching him with NJ, I think he's going to be a perrenial all star. That and he's a true center make him quite valuable.
As far as Beasley....too many red flags for me. He seems really talented but he doesn't really have a position and all signs point to him being a headcase.

agreed. not that I'm not happy with Love but Lopez would be ideal next to Big Al. too bad the Nets have Rod Thorn as their GM and we have no real chance to get him unless we trade Big Al (which we certainly won't do).

Re: VOTE: Trade Love for Beasley?
I seem to recall before the draft there was a great fear that McHale would like Brook Lopez too much. Lopez workouts were bad and his stock dropped, and he ended up being drafted 10th. Then the fear was that McHale was an idiot because he thought Love was a good player, and he might fall in love with that guy.

Beasley looks like he doesnt give a dam at all points of a game. staring off during timeouts. standing still when he doesnt have the ball and shooting every time he touches it.
Yuck. KLove is a far more valuable asset than that.

I hate to say it, because it's a dramatic shift from what I would have said before the season. No, I would not trade Love for Beasley.

interesting results, I'd like to see who would swap mm & love for lopez & x. I know nj fans pass, it was only 1 year ago a Williams was untouchable so I'm sure they value lopez even more

I think i was more worried about McHale drafting Love than drafting Lopez. I just know i didnt want either.
