Can you name the team that was #1 in operating revenue last year?

The Lakers were #2 .. #1 was the Chicago Bulls.

POR wasn't a winner last year, but they were #1 in increasing their team's valuation 21%.

I think most owner's aren't in it to make money. There are a lot of better ways to invest your money if that's your goal. And regardless, when you look at that list the better teams are generally at the top. There's the occasional bad team that makes money and good team that loses money, but the pattern of winning and making money is pretty apparent.

I've only known one professional sports owner, and while I agree that he isn't in it to make money, he didn't want to lose money either. He did it as a public service for the community and as a fun toy for himself, and I imagine others do it for prestige. I agree that they probably don't get into it to make money, but I don't know .. some sports franchises have had rapid growth in their value.

I have to admit, I don't see the corelation between success and money. DAL and DEN are both successful teams, and they both lost more than any team. The Knicks and Bulls are in the top five although they were lottery teams. Lakers are #2, BOS #8, but CLE, ORL, and NOH are all kind of in the middle.

8 of the 10 teams that lost money missed the playoffs. 14 of the 20 teams that made money made the playoffs. Obviously there are a lot more factors, but it certainly makes sense that teams that win will make more money. Fans don't want to come out and watch a loser (see: us).

Yeah. I'm not saying it's a rule that the more you win the more money you make. But I think it's pretty clear that winning helps. And for teams that aren't in big markets that's probably the only way. I think the numbers and common sense show that. But really that's a secondary issue here. Owning a professional sports team is more of a hobby than a source of income.

I'm still trying to understand how DeAndre Jordan would have stopped Al Jefferson's knee injury. Does he have some sort of injury protection force field? If so I definitely think he was worth a second rounder.

Jordan might not have prevented Jefferson's knee injury, but he would prevent Collins and Madsen from getting any playing time, and I think that would make him worth his weight in gold.

Firing wittman before the season would have prevented them from getting any playing time too.

Firing Whittman earlier would have prevented Al Jefferson's knee injury? Because that's whats opened up the extra minutes at the post that are/will be going to Collins and Madsen. Those minutes would be going to Jordan if we had him.
