A sad pattern:

Artest in college: locker room pest
Artest in Chicago: locker room pest
Artest in Indiana:
Artest in Sacramento: locker room pest
Artest in Houston: today's wiretap reads "Rockets in need of a shake up"

It beats me. These are organizations worth hundreds of millions of dollars and they can't see past their own nose. All of those teams neglected the fact that he's a repeating franchise wrecking ball. How is it possible for these teams not to see this?

Boy am I glad the Lakers are not dumb enough to do the same.

Battier is one of the few voices of reason in this league. Let's hope he asks to be traded before they ship out Artest.

I feel you but with a cheap Kidd signed, even though Ariza might start to guard PGs, the best line up will be Kobe, Kidd, and Fisher. Ariza is a little untested to be our starting SF but his defencencies (butchered that word) will be masked with Fisher coming off the bench with a cheap SF pickup and probably Vujacic as well.

It's really not that big of a deal to lose Walton for a center like Curry. Walton is very, very, very replaceable, at a fraction of the cost.

The bottom line is money though. If Curry for Morrison and Walton saves us close to 30 mill with the luxury tax than it won't matter how much he's making. Curry would not be in the rotation and would only serve as a "gangsta-a**" way for us to light victory cigars during blowouts until his contract is up after next year.

Curry costs you money because he is signed through 2011. Do the math!

he would cost us about 2mil more next season, 12mil more in 2011

and then save us 11mil in 2012, 12mil in 2013

but at least walton is productive, curry would be trapped behind bynum/gasol

Lamar for Gooden and Ty Thomas.

Chicago gets a starting PF and Lakers' get an expiring contract and a starting SF. I don't know about anybody else but I got a feeling Mitch could low ball Lamar and then say he wasn't in the budget right now because the team can't pay starting money to a bench player.

Odom for Amare straight up. Works in the trade checker.

You thought Bynum got alot of easy points playing next to Kobe, Amare would get twice as many. Bynum wont come back at full strength this season so you have the offseason to worry about what you are going to do with Bynum/Gasol/Amare all on the roster.

Suns do it to cut salary with Odom's expiring deal and possibly resign him for cheap.

Guys if we are to trade luke is for an exprining contract like a Joe Smith for example because some of you guys don't trust Mihm and Menga so bring Smith in then. Even if it means forcing Odom and even Kobe to rotate SF minutes along with Ariza.

Perfect scenario imo:

Trade: Lamar Odom + fillers for Shaquille O'Neal before the deadline.

Win a title this season.

Then beg Odom to take the MLE to come back in the summer.

Then use Shaq's 20 million expiring to get good players from a team aiming for the 2010 FA market before next season's deadline.

Win a few more titles.

I dont think Lamar would want to come back since we screw him over from getting a championship this season.

I want Caron back. I want Crittenton back. Where's Kwame when you need to trade him?

The speculated Bosh for Gooden and Thomas trade is a bigger steal than Gasol for Kwame, Marc, Critt, in my opinion. Gooden is finished and Thomas is an airhead pogo stick with poor work ethics. Bosh is a class act and a much better player than both of them. Their defense would have a shot at being elite.

Instead of Dumping Mihm,...

Post#1135 » by ecuhus1981 » Thu Feb 19, 2009 12:32 am

...would you rather have traded him for Ricky Davis and Brian Skinner? It works in the Checker.

These two Clippers are useful vets for a championship run and about as cheap as you'll ever find. I understand there were financial (lux tax) savings in this deal, but really, this salary dump doesn't make the Lakers a better team, and doesn't take them below the luxury tax either. Time's are rough financially for all of us, but when you're charging $100+ for tickets and you've just lost your franchise C, it doesn't seem prudent to get rid of another bigman. Just a Nets/Mavs fans' musings...

This had to be thank you the Gasol deal. The Lakers are returning a favor but it doesnt make sense. Mihm was just showing some fight (ask DJ) and he is a good back up.

Crazy
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

well, ricky davis and the lakers should unite next year so we can snag rubio.

every franchise he plays for lands a top draft pick/prospect. cavs got lebron, celtics got al jefferson, twolves got roy (but mchale **** this one up), heat got beasley, clippers are on pace for a top5 pick.
