Mark Brunell to the Falcons?

David Elfin of the Washington Times reports that the Redskins are believed to be talking to the Falcons about a trade that would send quarterback Mark Brunell to Atlanta.

I think its more of the fact that Brunell has absolutely stunk since last year. Todd Collins has actually looked like a decent backup in TC and preseason.

Brunell is battling Collins for the #2 spot. I'm assuming the loser gets traded/cut and Jordan Palmer gets moved to #3. The coaches like Palmer and think he can potentially be a backup to Jason in a few years.

As long as they don't give up anything substantial, it's worth a shot to look at Brunell to tide over the position until they find their next potential franchise QB.

bill musgrave(qb coach) worked with brunell before. if im not mistaken, he had a really good season with musgrave.

no... burnell is lifeless now. at least harrington is still young and can get the job done. i'm not saying he's going to bring the team to playoffs or anything. if you're team is just getting by and trying to get a franchise QB through next year's draft, harrington is your man.

It'll take some amazing play for us to not be in the to 10, but you aren't too up-to-date on the Falcons if you honestly believe they'll be the worst. We're talented a pretty much every position, it's just a lot of them are real young or on the wrong side of 30. It really comes down to if we can avoid another injury plagued season.

100% correct. I know the Skins are fielding calls on Brunell, and Collins for that matter. The loser will wind up in ATL or MIN (where they'd start).

ATL losing Shockley is a bigger hit that you'd think. They desperately wanted him to be a #2 who could come in for a drive or two every week. Now they have Joey and Chris Redman. Yikes!

no.. harrington is fine as a QB for the time being... i'm not saying he's a franchise QB or a long term plan.... it's obvious that the falcons are looking for a franchise QB from the market or draft next year.. before that, harrington can get the job done...

The market for experienced, extra QBs is thru the freaking roof right now. MIN is praying somebody halfway decent gets cut ASAP. ATL wants a legit challenger to Harrington. DAL has realized Brad Johnson is done and needs Romo insurance. NYG are looking for an upgrade to The Round Mound of QB as Eli's backup. CIN has been putting out feelers, SF has been putting out feelers, NO has soured on Jamie Martin and his limp-wristed arm. Cam Cameron is not happy with Cleo Lemon in MIA, so they're probably looking.

Some guys who are likely to move, one way or another:

AJ Feeley from PHI, because he has more trade value than Holcomb
Chris Simms is about to be cut from TB, any day now
Brian Griese from CHI
whomever winds up as #3 (#4 if Russell ever signs, not a sure thing) in OAK, and your guess is probably better than mine on that giant mess
I would have included Kyle Boller a week ago, but I've been told Brian Billick has come to the realization he cannot depend on Steve McNair staying healthy and both Troy Smith and Drew Olsen have looked lousy. I always knew Billick was a genius.
