Predict our moves before the deadline...

Post#1 » by BillessuR6 » Mon Feb 16, 2009 4:30 pm

There is a little more than 3 days left until the trading deadline (Thursday, 3 PM EST). We don`t really have the pieces (or the need) for big trades but we at least have to do something to open up some roster spots, so we can sign the players that might get bought out (Marbury...).

I don`t see us cutting a player after the deadline to make room, so I expect Danny to make a small trade or two. Something like JG Giddens for a second rounder if nothing else...

I would love to trade TA, our young players (Giddens, POB...), even Davis or Powe for a veteran big, a PG, big SF but since the value of our bench players isn`t high I doubt we get anything useful in return.

What are you expectations?

Trade Giddens, TA, Scal to OKC for Collison. Sign Marbury after NY buy-out.

Then talk reggie miller out of retirement, and sign he and antoine walker

Rondo/cassel/house
allen/R.miller/house
Peirce/Awalker/walker
Garnett/Bmiller/powe/Awalker
Perk/Bmiller/Awalker/POB

Pipe dream I know.

It's not what I hope for, but I see us making no trades and cutting POB should the need arise for a roster spot.

I co sign this trade. I think OKC would probally rather Powe over Scal but I would even do that trade.

roll out

Rondo - Starbury
Jesus - Eddie Mansion
Truth - Veal Chop
Ticket - Collison (need a nick name)
Perk - Ticket Stub

Well I'd first like to say that I highly doubt there will be a significant trade made by the Celtics. I can't really envision the Celtics essentially "dumping" JR Giddens or Patty O'Bryant. With regards to POB I see the Celtics hanging on to him for next season because they really have no idea what will happen with Davis and/or Powe in the offseason as both are FA's. POB could be used as leverage in those negotiations because in theory POB could replace either or both players if they decide to look elsewhere for more money.

Also, I don't think that Scal is really a likely option for trade at the moment. Doc, I believe, really likes the versatility that Scal provides as well as his quite valuable ability to space the floor.

As much as I hate to say it Tony Allen seems like the most likely trade option. Sam Cassell to be is a likely piece of a trade package, where he would be cut by the other team and resigned in Boston. Depending on the players coming back in trade I could see any of Pruitt, Giddens, Powe, Davis, and POB traded along with Tony and Sam, in order to have the salary necessary to make a deal for a low- to mid-salary player.

I see no move happening, and signing Starbury after the dead line to Sam or Gabe's roster spot. The dream of a sign or trade worthy big seems unlikely to me.

Celtics make no trades before the deadline. They pick up two players, a wing and a big man after buyouts.

Marbury never puts on a Celtics uniform. Thats my predictions.

I think it might have to be something more like Leon instead of Giddens and perhaps some future considerations but I am with that move. We may end up with a bought out Joe Smith as well.

speculation is Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox could be traded for Tyson Chandler. If that goes down Im guessing New Orleans will just keep him for the rest of the season.

I know Randolph IS gonna be a hell of a player, but I'd almost prefer someone who WAS a hell of a player. I'd just feel safer heading into the postseason with someone who has been there, done that.

I get what you're saying. I figured it would be a good way to open up a spot and get some length at the wing position.

scal and tony for Kapano

Tony, POB, and Giddens for Barry and head or wafer

Giddens and Pruitt for Theo Ratliff and Kareem Rush

I dont think any trade is likely at this point, im scared of waiting for teams to buy out players though

So, who gets cut then? We have 15 players on the roster, for us to sign two guys we would need to cut two if no trades are made...

If we do just sign and waive players I think it will be

O'Bryant and Pruitt gone

with

Horry and Marbury signing shortly afterwards

I have this sinking feeling that we'll see Scott Pollard back in a Cs uniform.
