Plus even if Marbury doesn't sign with us we'd still have Rondo, Pruitt and Cassell at the position. But of course preferably we would lay down the red carpet and Horry and Marbury would make us great again. I feel thus far we've overachieved this season. Its time to get back to being great like last season.

Tough one.
This never happens because you don't dump 4 active bench players off a 44-11 team in mid season. Plus, Maggette's contract is crap and I don't think he fits in well with Celtics current team needs.
But--- I would dearly love to see what kind of player Randolph becomes after a couple of years with KG. He's got crazy talent. Could be one of the league's stars in a few years.

Re: trade idea Bos/GS
As much as the Warriors would love to lose Maggette's huge contract, I don't see tham letting Randolph go, at least not while he is in his ascent. He has all-star talent and is only 19.
I think this idea might be revisited in the off-season, when EH, BS and TA all becoming expiring deals. If the Cs owners are willing to pay luxury tax, we could probably get Magette, and a no. 1 pick as a sweetener. Maggette is owed roughly $40 million oveer the next four seasons, and in this economy that is a lot of moolah. (That is why Wyc probably stays away from Maggette, because that is luxury tax material for the Cs.) GS really doesn't need or want him long-term -- they have young studs to play at the 3 -- and needs to dump his salary. On the Cs, he could play a role as a 6th man.

I don't think that any of the 4 players will be missed. The starting five is what got us the 44 and 11 record. Our bench has been inconsistent all season. Maggette would be a player that shows up every night.

maggette is just 1 or 2 million bucks overpaid a year and can give you 20pts, 8ft attempts a game and draw a ton of fouls every game. randolph will be a pretty good player and has a pretty good chance to become an all star. randolph has shown signs that he would become a good player just like arenas, ellis and andris did when they first came in the nba. you guys get both for your trash players... celtics obviously butt rape the warriors in this trade with a sharpened butcher knife

LOL. Pretty much an accurate analysis.
This is not a good idea.

I dont think we have anything that could get us Randolph. Maggette might be another story.... but AGAIN, Danny was all about Maggette if he would sign for 6 mill, Im sure he wants nothing to do with him at 10 million.

I agree that you don't do this deal now. I think Danny either makes a small move or we stand pat and depending on how we do in the playoffs he makes a move in the offseason. KG, Ray and Pierce can still bring it but they can't bring it every night so we definitely need a player or two off our bench and who lighten the load on those guys and extend thier playing careers. I have high hopes for Walker and there is still time for Gabe to turn into a reliable combo guard but we still need a young big and it would be nice to have another 3 point shooter to spread the floor. When Scal was playing and hitting the 3 we took it to another level. I would love Gerald wallace on this team or a luol deng- both of those guys are long and can defend.

Nellie would hate all of those players except for House. He only wants players who run up the court and shoot well. The other three cannot do at least one or both of those things. Plus, why would we really want to take on Maggette's mammoth contract when he is constantly hurt and doesn't play D. If you replaced A Randolph with Brandon Wright, I would consider it, but as presently constructed, this trade really ends up hurting both teams.

Re: trade idea Bos/GS
This would likely only fly if we had no intention of re-signing Ray. There's no way we could have Maggette's salary and Rondo's extension with the Big 3's contracts. We'd probably have the highest payroll in the league and Wyc would have to pay a ridiculous luxury tax penalty.

If the Celts want someone from the Warriors who can spread out the offense, how about Kelenna Azubuike?

Azubuike was actually a guy I wanted to sign this past offseason.

He could've been of good help if the Clips and Warriors didn't get into battle over his services.

Re: trade idea Bos/GS
The only fair deal I see that would help each team is:
Ray, Rondo, House, and Powe
for
Ellis, Maggette, Randolph, Williams, and a first round draft pick
If Marbury comes available we sign him and either cut Cassell or Williams. I would hate to see Ray and Rondo go, but we need to get younger and have a PG that teams don't sag off of. Ellis would be great for the offense and Tony could start where he is more aggressive with Maggette off the bench. Williams could possibly be the PG off the bench we are looking for if Marbury isn't released, and Randolph is a star ready to be born, and with the help of KG can be his understudy and play next to him when Garnett slows a bit and plays more of the 5 with this team.

Re: trade idea Bos/GS
I started off the post by saying the only fair deal for each team would be this and explained the resoning behind it. I get sick of some posters who think we can make homer deals all the time. GS isn't giving up Randolph for crap players in return.
The other side to this Rondo thing is people think he will easily sign with us again and stay here. If you were Rondo and saw the future after the big three age ( at the time he becomes a free agent ) what help does he see to keep him here? He isn't a lock for the future of this team and probably doesn't want to rebuild with this franchise. If Ainge doesn't find a way to turn these aging stars into something for the future I don't see Rondo wanting to stay with no help to keep this team winning.

Re: trade idea Bos/GS
List of guys I would trade Rondo for w/o question:
1. LeBron
2. Howard
3. Paul
List of guys I would consider dealing Rondo for:
4. Wade
5. Kobe
6. Deron Williams
7. Durant
8. Roy
9. Yao
List of guys I would not trade Rondo for:
10-450. Everyone else in the NBA
Explanation: Sure, I overvalue Rondo's present value. But he is very young and getting better by the month. All signs -- intelligence, heart, work ethic, competitive drive, world class athleticism --are pointing to a brighter future.I want to keep him through his ascent. By 25 or 26 he could be one of the 5-7 best players in the league. As it is he is a breathtaking point guard. When he plays his game, with his swashbuckling flare, the Cs are close to unbeatable.
Bottom line: you don't trade guys like Rondo. Guys like this don't grow on trees. When you get one you keep him, which is why Paul, LeBron and James and the other guys I list never get traded unless they force a deal.
You throw a saddle on Rondo's back and take a ride to 2020.

Re: trade idea Bos/GS
Rondo is staying. The CBA is written is such a way that the Cs are certain to keep him. They can do an extension this summer, or match any offer when he is a RFA in 2010. If he goes to his fifth year option -- extremely mega unlikely -- the Cs still hold Bird rights.
There are plenty of things we can find to worry about, but this is not one of them.
Rondo is our's. Enjoy.
