I really don't care where they go, but they have lost the support of Sac. No one is going to the games and they just aren't fun to watch anymore. It will takes years for this team to turn around and I really don't have much faith in the owners/gm.

san jose is the next best spot outside of sacramento...still can go to games and watch them locally.
much better than vegas or outside of california...i see this as a realistic option

There won't be much support anywhere for a team this bad unless it's another one horse town that needs some entertainment (see OKC). None of the proposed locations qualify. So this isn't about the lack of support. With these ticket prices and the quality of the product right now, the arena is going to be like that basically anywhere you go. But if the arena is like that, and it has more luxury suites, the Maloofs won't lose so much money. That's what this is about, really.

Please forgive me if this seems a little disorganized. I'm just really upset about all of this BS about the Kings moving.

Kevin Johnson is throwing everything he has into building a new arena in Sacramento. He's been in contact with the Maloofs, the league, the city and even Schwarzenegger to keep this moving. It's even possible that KJ can secure some fed money to help since he was an early supporter of Obama. Stern has staked his reputation on this on getting a new arena built. Even if something unrealistic gets proposed, it's far from dead guys. Yes, the team is losing money, but everybody is hurting right now, and it doesn't help when the product on the floor sucks to begin with. If they were competitive, I don't think we would be hearing as much "moving" talk as we are right now.

Our population is still set to grow quite a bit in the next 20 years or so. People are flocking to the West and Sacramento is still often mentioned as one of the prime targets for these population shifts. Fact is, Sacramento could even get a franchise or two more in the future. All of the Bay Area sports teams aren't looking good, and they could be looking to move elsewhere. Expansion teams are a possibility too. The economy won't be like this forever, so it's wise to keep investing in Sacramento.

If the Kings move, this would be a more of a tragedy than the relocation of the Sonics IMO. From my perspective of course.

Return to Sacramento Kings
