timd will have to give his opinion, but right now, the East Champions from last year are sitting outside the playoffs. I know they had a few injuries, but still.

Therien had to go.

I have been a Therien supporter the whole time he was with the Pens, but the players just weren't responding to him.

I think it had to do with a little bit of everything. He is the type of coach who is great for an AHL team or a team who lacks discipline or is a young team, ala the Pens for the past few seasons. The team has grown up now and just doesn't respond to his coaching style.

Another thing the Pens weren't responding to was his system. There is no need to install a 1-2-2 trap with the line up the Pens have. They should be an aggressive team. A team who thinks offense first. The game against Toronto, the team basically sat back and let Toronto have their way in the 2nd and 3rd period. That is the coaching strategy and it was wrong. The Pens should have keep on Toronto the whole game.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?
