FINALLY! The Kings make a trade!

The Sacramento Kings agreed in principle to a deal with the Boston Celtics on Monday night, a league source told ESPN.com. The Celtics will send Sam Cassell and cash to the Kings for a future second-round pick.

Barring any changes overnight, the deal is expected to be finalized Tuesday afternoon with the league office.

The deal helps the Celtics by removing Cassell's salary from the team's luxury-tax computations. The Kings give up virtually nothing to do it as the pick is heavily protected. Furthermore, another league source says the deal could pave the way for the Celtics to add another player to their roster prior to the playoffs. The Celtics had a maximum of 15 players on their current roster.

Cassell hasn't played a game for the Celtics this season, but he's been an important veteran voice in the locker room. While it's unclear what the Kings will do with Cassell, most likely they'll waive him.

although i do like this trade...considering we do get cash along with cassell. i see cassell waived...and even though we gave up a PROTECTED future second round pick....if we trade miller or salmons then we will indeed get more draft picks. kind of like the marcus camby trade. lol but except he's more valuable then cassell.

ehh the trade is w/e really, it will help the celts get someone later on for the playoffs, and the kings won't really get much *not that it matters for them* but he is stil better than BENO lol even if he is liek 126 years old in basketball years

i think they will waive him anyways tho

Yeah, hopefully this will be a start of a chain reaction of trades by the Kings. Hopefully, the potential trades are beneficial to the Kings.

Yeah, that is one of my concern. There is a chance that we just going to dump Miller/Salmons just for pure expirings or something. =/

You know, at this point, go ahead and just get it over with. If saving $$$ is the highest priority go ahead and dump away! Why we're at it, lets sell our 1st rounders too. Full on Suns style! :roll:

No seriously, I still have faith that Petrie will only do a trade if it makes sense, and I have faith that the Maloofs won't want to straight dump salary. The bright side is complete commitment to the youth at least.

Yeah, it's like you said we either 1) Stand pat or 2) Several Kings players will be traded. Hopefully, it's #2. Even if, we are just dumping. (Which I would be kinda disappointed) It seems that we are at rock bottom since the start of the season. I doubt we would go any lower. We are like 11-43. I just hate that as a Kings fan. We need to make beneficial moves now.

If we buy out E.T. like I think we will, this deal will basically come down to the Kings selling a future 2nd round pick!
If E.T. suits up and plays for the Kings, then I think Beno is on the way out and Cassell helps Bobby Brown excel!
