Sam Cassell appreciation thread

Post#1 » by Tricky Ricky » Tue Feb 17, 2009 2:23 pm

I know a lot of you hated seeing Sam in games last season but if the trade is official I think he deserves an appreciation thread.

Some of his Celtics accomplishments were
-Hitting a HUGE three to help us finally beat SA in SA
-Hitting a HUGE three against Cle in game 1, without that three we might have lost that game and homecourt advantage.
-Some nice shots in game 1 vs LA of the finals.
-Mentoring Rondo throughout the playoffs
-THROWING SASHA TO THE GROUND in game 5!
-And the only bigger thing than throwing Sasha to the ground would be being part of the 2007-08 NBA Champion Boston Celtics!!!

THANK YOU SAM CASSELL!

Thanks Sam, we know you could have used your bird rights. We know you did that because we all know that you will be returning as a assistant coach someday. By the way, the deal is not yet official we MIGHT see more additions or subtractions.

oddly enough I'm going to miss Sam but I really think he will be back as a coach next year. I would have loved to have seen him play in at least one game this year and it sure looked like Doc wanted to put him in the NO game the other night but maybe he already knew about this deal and couldn't risk Sam getting hurt. ANyhow Sam being on our bench grew on me as the season went on and I wll miss him.

I don`t really remember much from Cassell playing wise except for a great game against ATL at the end of the season and the one against SA. In the playoffs all I remember are missed shots...

I am hoping he returns as an assistant coach. I really like his personality and the leadership, experience he brings to this team. I even think he could still help us on the court, since we don`t have a real backup PG.

So, thanks Sam, looking forward to seeing you on the bench as an assistant...

The thing I'll always remember about him is his balldance against Atlanta. Ahhh fond memories, that's going in my brain next to Big Baby crying and puppies with cowboy hats.

I think this was a move to free up space to sign Terry Porter to back up Rondo.....He has to be younger than Sam dont he?????
