Potential Trade Between Kings/Wolves?

Post#1 » by KF10 » Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:36 am

There remains the potential for the Kings to do a smaller deal as well, and sources said one such scenario exists with Minnesota. Third-year guard Quincy Douby ($1.4 million expiring contract) and veteran forward Mikki Moore ($5.8 million this season and only $2 million of $6.2 million next season guaranteed if waived by June 20) could go to the Timberwolves for guard Rashad McCants (expiring deal for $2.6 million).

It seems minor but it is still interesting though.

Pretty sure the Wolves would have to toss more in, it doesn't work cap-wise. But anything that brings in talent for McCants is a good thing. Is Mikki Moore still considered talent, though?

Kings give: Douby and Moore
Wolves give: McCants, Madsen, and Booth

Cuts a little salary from the Wolves this year, and since Moore's contract is only guaranteed at 2 mil, I believe it saves us a little next year. But seriously, yawn... :-)

It works for me depending on what we toss in to match salary. Could we add craig smith and take back Donte Greene? As it is, Douby is a shoot first combo guard but as I recall he is pretty good from 3pt land (I am sure someone will actually check his stats and prove me wrong) and Mikki Moore is a hard working, pretty athletic 7 footer who plays good D. Love could play primarily play PF for the rest of the year. Why not?

Yeah this doesn't bother be in the least bit. Just depends what the Wolves would have to add.

Judging by the rumors out there, it seems clear that the Wolves are shopping for Centers at this point. Lets hope we make a run at Chandler.

I don't see the point.

When they are discussing it as "Mikki Moore is only guaranteed for $2 mil," does this mean we're cutting him to gain salary cap relief? In other words, we're doing a deal for production this year, then adding $2 mil in salary for 2009? I don't like keeping Mikki at $6.2 mil .. prices are cheaper now.

So if they are talking about this as us including a 2-year deal, then the other guy is Cardinal, and its fine with me. I wouldn't even do Collins + McCants. Moore might be better this year, but who cares? Why add more salary in 2009-10 to be better now?

john2jer probably came up with the only deal I'd do, which is basically salary neutral.

Kings give: Douby and Moore
Wolves give: McCants, Madsen, and Booth

If they want a peek at McCants, I have no problem, but I agree with his assessment. Yawn.

We would have to include somebody else. Madsen and McCants would be enough to match financially. Saves a couple hundred thousand next year. Nothing all that meaningful, but I'd be in favor of it.

Quincy Douby another one of Brooklyn's finest. yay. Mikki Moore would be a good filler for us the rest of the season though.

I am, but I think he may help to implode the team, resulting in a worse record, and therefore a higher draft pick. It's freaking strategy, man.

Kings are trying to cut salary so I doubt we would be taking anything else back with McCants except expiring contracts (Collins). And there is no way you would be getting Donte Green.

Aaaaaand back on topic... assuming most of you guys have read this:

http://www.sacbee.com/kings/story/1629989.html

I personally would expand this just a touch:

Sacramento Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: -0.0 ppg, -0.1 rpg, and -1.4 apg.
Incoming Players
Kevin Ollie
6-2 PG from Connecticut
4.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.1 apg in 16.5 minutes
Calvin Booth
6-11 C from Penn State
0.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 0.7 minutes
Rashad McCants
6-4 SG from North Carolina
8.7 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 17.9 minutes
Jason Collins
7-0 C from Stanford
1.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.5 apg in 9.8 minutes
Outgoing Players
Beno Udrih
6-3 PG from Slovenia (Foreign)
10.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.3 apg in 29.9 minutes
Mikki Moore
7-0 C from Nebraska
3.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.4 minutes

Minnesota Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: 0.0 ppg, +0.1 rpg, and +1.4 apg.
Incoming Players
Beno Udrih
6-3 PG from Slovenia (Foreign)
10.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.3 apg in 29.9 minutes
Mikki Moore
7-0 C from Nebraska
3.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.4 minutes
Outgoing Players
Kevin Ollie
6-2 PG from Connecticut
4.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 2.1 apg in 16.5 minutes
Calvin Booth
6-11 C from Penn State
0.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 0.7 minutes
Rashad McCants
6-4 SG from North Carolina
8.7 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 17.9 minutes
Jason Collins
7-0 C from Stanford
1.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 0.5 apg in 9.8 minutes

Yes, here is TTF resuming his campaign for a PG and C, in this case doing it with one trade:

Gomes/Carney
Love/Cardinal
Moore
Foye/Miller
Udrih/Telfair

For the rest of this year - a big point and a springy 5 to complement Love in the frontcourt. Udrih's deal is long-term... but maxes out as a $7 million player option in 2012. Not that bad, if he can platoon with Telfair to be an effective PG tandem.
