Okay Rex supporters, what now? Do we say that it is only preseason? Do we say that this is only Rex's FULL SECOND YEAR? What now?

What was particularly funny were the expressions on Pep Hamilton's face that screamed 'What the hell is he doing?!?'.

Actually, I don't want to laugh, I want to cry, because it almost seems apparent that our hopes of a Super Bowl will ride on Brian Griese's shoulders.

It's very obvious Brian Griese is the better Leader & overall QB on our team. I'm not just overreacting to the way Rex played in this preseason game but I think we will see more of the same mistakes from Rex this season starting with our opener at the blitzing San Diego Chargers. I think Rex will bounce back to play an average to good preseason game against the 49ers but they are not a good defensive team same for the Texans. Rex is just an average QB in my eyes & he doesn't have the accuracy or arm strength to consistently beat teams whether under pressure or not! He has small hands which causes fumbling problems even without the Rain element. He also doesn't have total command of the offense like Brian Griese. I would really hate going to another superbowl with him as our QB! Rex does look a little better overall this season but he just isn't good enough at sustaining long drives for the score. On the other hand Griese makes it looks basic & knows how to utililize all of our weapons to the fullest extent.

I hope I'm wrong but I think Rex will get exposed badly in our season opener. That may be a blessing in disguise because he isn't the answer starting only the problem. I say this knowing Rex will have some good games if he doesn't get the quick hook at San Diego.

The concern is that this is his 5th year. He has also already played in what? 28 games? He's almost in his third year of game experience.

The guy has some abilities, there's no denying it, but I really think that what you see is what you're gonna get.

He fumbled 8 times last year.
Orton fumbed 12 times in his first year.
Romo fumbled 9 last year in just 11 games, not including the big one.
Brady fumbled 12.
There are several QBs who fumbled well more then Grossman did last season.

Romo fumbled 9 last year in just 11 games, not including the big one.
Brady fumbled 12.
There are several QBs who fumbled well more then Grossman did last season.

But is that counting the play off games? They should be counted.

I agree that the arm strength for Rex is his biggest asset. The other is that his teammates like him. I know that sounds dumb but they do, the coaches do. I think that this like is mingled with trust and that's why he still has a job.

The problem with the fumbling is not that he fumbles. It's the exchange from center. That's inexcusable. I don't know if I have seen this happen more than once or twice in a QB's career and usually only under crazy conditions.

What people have to STOP overlooking is the fact that Grossman continues to REGRESS. Even last season, he continued to regress as the year went on. He's now started this season regressing. He looks average to great against teams with weaker defenses and bad to horrid against teams with good offenses.

The reason I am so against Grossman is that never, in his entire career, has he shown to me that he is improving. It's always one step forward against a mediocre team and 5 steps back against good competition. When you also look back, most of his good games were when the Special Teams and Defense were so on that he had nothing to worry about. We need a QB that will make the offense legit and allow the defense to rest and be as aggressive as possible late in the game to blow teams out. As it is now, all of the teams in the NFL know they can rattle this guy and eventually wear our D down late in the game. Absolutely NO ONE is scared of Rex Grossman.

So the fact that he started last season on fire wasn't an improvement over the previous year?... when we lost to Carolina in the playoffs where Rex played mediocre at best?

It really doesn't matter how strong your arm is if you can't even take the snap. Once he got stripped, which does actually happen to every quarterback at some point, he wasn't any good anymore. This team doesn't need a leader that's going to collapse when something goes wrong.

Yes, this is the time of year when you work out the kinks in your offense. That means timing and chemistry with your receivers. Not the ability to even start the play. If the second week of the pre-season is spent on day one stuff, then somebody needs to be replaced.

No matter how bad Rex looks in the preseason, he's going to start the season.

Now if is really bad as the season continues, Lovie will bench him. But I don't think it'll happen.
