Carter for Artest??

Post#1 » by ChampionRed » Thu Feb 12, 2009 5:32 pm

According to Netsdaily.com there have been talks about a possible package surrounding Ron Artest for Vince Carter.

What do you guys think of this? I'm not sure if I like it. Unless th Rockets trade Wafer in the package there really isn't anyone on the rockets I would take.

I don't even like Von Wafer. I don't think highly of anyone on Houston's roster. They're either untouchable or too small in my opinion.

Now with this trade, I read that too, but honestly have no idea why Jersey would do this. I would think they'd want Artest to come play with this team. Yeah he's a headcase, but he really hasn't done anything this year. Maybe he's maturing (I'm a St. John's fan so I'm really praying this is the case). Unless they see a guy this summer they are basically 100% sure they can land who would fit this team better than Carter, I don't understand the move.

Regardless, I doubt this will happen unless a 3rd team comes in. I think this rumor will go away within 24 hours.

If he can still defend and comes off the books before 2010, I'd consider this.

Terrible trade, Houston doesn't have one semi talented young player on their team. If we were looking to dump Carter we would trade him for Wally. Unless they throw in like 4 1st round picks for the next eight years this is a terrible deal.

Being a Rockets fan i can tell you that there not going to trade Wafer or Scola in the package but everyone else is up for grabs even Battier. Im not sure what they have to do to get the salaries to match but I see an Artest+Alston+Head for Carter+Dooling as a decent option for both teams

I agree with this. I love Ron even if he's crazy, but I'd want him to come here and PLAY with Vince. Not come here and have Vince go to Houston. This to me would be a move where we plan on taking the season (Artest is not a #1 scoring option), freeing up some cap space and hoping we can land a good lottery pick and free agent this summer. I don't think our management feels we're desperate for a move like this year.

Since when was Von Wafer protected? Especially when you'd be getting back VINCE CARTER.

I don't like this at all.

I like the idea of Artest, just not at the expense of VC.

I like this trade ALOT. I actually want VC in the deal just because we will have a ridiculously slow backcourt if we have VC and Ron together. However, if we even consider this trade I want the Nets to make another deal to replace VC. Hayes, Hassell and CDR are not good enough to become starters. I don't mind them coming off the bench but starting? No, we need a solid player.

How about VC for Tmac?? I'm telling you....there's nothing wrong with his knee. "there's cartilage missing" is that so? Then how are you able to come back and dunk over Tyrus thomas...and then suddenly be missing cartilage a couple of games later?? If it doesn't make sense to you, that you know what? It probably isn't true. Tmac is ashamed b/c he's in trade talks (he has a big ego) and is using the knee to deter a trade.

Exactly!!! He's embarassed he got hung and is trying to find excuses. Watch. After the trade deadline, if he's not playing well I'd be very surprised

I will be suprised if he can still jog.
You're delusional.
McGrady is toast.

I see no way Rod accepts this one.
It really doesn't even save us much money, only opens up cap room for 2010.

22 mill for a guy that isn't even as effective as Marquis Daniels is a tuff pill to swallow.

McGrady deal makes no sense for Net fans.

I'd prefer the San Antonio deal getting a team like Memphis involved to make it more enticing.

Artest is simply nothing than an expiring contract, Battier is a great player but he is 30 years old and his contract extends past 2010 and would go against what we are trying to do with the Carter trade. Landry is great, but we are already overloaded with young talented bigs that are in need of PT.

The only Houston trade I like is one where we get Brooks and Landry.

I never heard Brooks. I only heard Landry and Luther Head. Even though I hate how small Aaron is, I'd be A LOT happier with Brooks/Landry in a package even though Landry just adds to the glut in our front court. I still think we can find a better trade partner if we're looking for young talent.
