I bet Giddens or Walker get some burn and then...surprise surprise, Doc figures out they can ball...Doc sorta seems to get lucky when injuries force him to go with certain guys and then he figures out they can actually play...we will see if that is the case here.

Its definately a chance to use Walker, hes the one that seems to be able to keep up the pace at this level, and already has some feel for the nba game in limited minutes

Time to really see what he can do IMO

Ya, agreed with Avalanche the biggest difference between Lebron and normal human beings is that Lebron doesn't display any signs of fatigue in minute 44 of 48, he's an absolute freak. Pierce on the other hand would be decimated by having to defend Lebron full-time, never mind the other end of the court. Next in line is Ray Allen, then, gasp, Scalabrine, and finally Walker or Giddens. Doc won't play those guys, or at least he's shown NO indication that he's willing to work ANOTHER young player into the rotation.

I'd love for Walker to emerge as a solid 5-10 minute option at SF off the bench but I'm not holding my breath. As much as people hate on Tony he has definite value as a defender. Like Danny I HOPE he'll be healthy come playoff time.

I suppose as long as he stays in physical shape the whole time, while he may be useless on offense we could at least throw him out there to defend Bron, Wade or whoever we match up with for a few minutes

Blessing in disguise, Giddons and Walker should get that time now and maybe one of them will be better then TA by playoff time, they certainly have more size. I think Walker could by the time the playoffs come around eclipse TA.

At this stage of their careers, Walker and Giddens can in no way replace the albeit inconsistent package that is TA. Way too young, absolutely no NBA experience, no proven knowledge of knowing our defensive rotations--and they've never been tested in any important games. Now, I love both of those young guys, and I think they have bright futures, but they are not ready right now.

That said, I'd love to see Doc give Walker some consistent minutes while TA is out, just to see if he proves me wrong. It's better than overplaying House and Scal.

As for whether we'll miss TA during the next 2 months--sure we will. We don't have a true 2 guard coming off the bench! House is great shooter, but undersized and not a good defender. Gabe doesn't seem to be able to hit a shot, and he's gotten shy lately. Gabe, on the bright side, can guard people on the perimeter. So, come the days when House is not hitting and Pruitt isn't scoring, we're going to be facing lots of extra minutes for Ray and Paul. And keeping down their minutes was one of the things TA did--now we're going to face situations where we might need to play Paul and Ray more than we want to, which is NOT GOOD. Not to mention the fact that TA represented the best starting option should Ray or Paul get injured. We basically have no depth at the wing for the next 2 months unless Danny makes a move. We're going to notice TA's absence one way or another.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

We're not likely to play the Cavs until the 3'rd round of the playoffs, there is no indication that TA is out for the playoffs. And with an injury to his non shooting thumb, there is no reason he can't be in shape.

I'm not sure there is anything wrong actually with putting Scal or Walker on Lebron, play him hard, try and wear him out or make him frustrated. With PP around, we're only talking probably 5 minutes a normal playoff game PP isn't in there.

Well, I was expecting Steph Marbury to impact Tony Allen's minutes the most.

So, if Steph comes on board, then all is as I expected.

Ray will be the backup SF, and he has done GREAT in that role.

That will leave about 24 minutes of SG,
since I think House will continue to get minutes,
especially with a ball handler/playmaker (7.8 APG Career Average)
of the quality of Steph Marbury.

So, the surgery gets Tony out of the way,
but if Marbury is bought out by Monday,
for his current offer of $1 Million off plus not appealing the $400,000 fine;
well, with luxury tax the Knicks will save $2.4 Million,
which should be enough incentive to just set Steph FREE.

Eddie will be paired with Rondo or Steph.
The Celtic backcourt will be small,
but highly skilled.
Marbury can take it to the rim, handle, SHOOT beautifully,
and also make plays.

Now, if there was only a full sized backup center good enough to back up Perk.

Call up GIddens or give Bill some run. I'm going to be annoyed if we just get 40 minutes of rondo and a bunch of Pruitt. I wanted to see Gabe play earlier because I figured once he got some run he'd start to play his game. Instead he just dribbles up, passes to house/pierce and floats around, maybe bricks a 3. We've seen what he has to offer, and uh, no. Giddens should be with the C's now so they could really assess him and walker with a couple of intense practices.

The way this roster is going, KG may have to play some 3.

...count me as excited to see what Marbury can do here, but lets not call his shooting "beautiful"...while his stroke is nice, he's never had the shot selection necissary to shoot a high percentage - and never shown the inclination to be more judicious with it...

Maybe he meant to say Steph is shooting beautifully compared to Tony? ;)

I really like Walker and also believe he'll shin. In fact if he gets that fierceness back he showed in the preseason he may even knee, or thigh.
