The Sixers remain in the market for a shooter. Wouldn't Mike Miller be a great fit? Sure, but Philadelphia's problem is simple -- they don't have any desirable expiring contracts on hand. The Sixers' only significant expiring deal is that of Andre Miller, at $10 million, and trading Andre Miller is probably not going to happen, because he's been a big part of the team's resurgence.

The Wizards continue to get inquiries about SF Caron Butler. He's an All-Star caliber player, but if the team does not make a move at the deadline, it is going to wind up smack in luxury tax territory. They can't trade PF Antawn Jamison or PG Gilbert Arenas because of their contracts, so Butler remains their only option.

Mike Miller + Cardinal + Ollie for Andre Miller + prospect/pick

PHI has the cap space next year, and Miller would (eventually) help Brand and the league's worst 3-point shooting team.

Dunno if the Knicks would do it; however, they are the ONLY team who'd consider this deal. Granted they/Dolan would once again get taxed - yet, GM Walsh is over a barrel as he cannot trade Curry nor Jeffries; therefore, these picks would be valued rookie contracts for the Knicks going forward...Additionally, Walsh would get to pound his chest and tell the NY tabloids - "I told you I could get something for Marbury".

As for the T-Wolves, this is a weak draft and it is doubtful they'll be able to incorporate two rookies let alone four!

As for Miller he may be popular (not too much as the Wolves are 28th in attendance); however, he did not do SQUAT during the Wolves 12 - 4 run against the dregs of the league.

GM Stack needs to get this done - if not for him, than for his successor.

Check his minutes, rebounds and assists. He didn't shoot well (or enough?) in January, but he helped get some of those wins.

You may be right about the Knicks not being bothered by the lux. They have such a big market, that getting a few more wins might off-set the lux costs.

Nah, don't check the numbers. Watch the games. Miller may have done slightly more than nothing, but I think the team played just fine without him on the court. Probably better with him off the court than on. That shouldn't say anything about Miller's value to other teams, though, just that he is indeed expendable from a Wolves point of view.

Defensively:
I think we improve with the addition of Lopez but Stat is probably a worse defender than Jefferson.

Offensively:
It opens up the inside for players like Foye, Carney, and Telfair to take the ball inside.

Barbosa would be a great addition to our bench play. Lopez could be the defensive center that we need. And the best part is that we wouldn't be so undersized any longer.

For the Suns:
They increase their low post points and allow O'Neil to rest without hurting the team. Opens up the parameter for Nash, Hill, Miller and Richardson. Reduces their salary and gives them an expiring in Miller.

Owner Robert Sarver may be satisfied that his team will play better with Gentry at the helm. But ... much of the interest in trading Amare was financial. The Suns still need to clear roughly $7 to $10 million off their cap for next year to avoid the luxury tax. Ideally there's a Shaq trade out there or a Jason Richardson trade that does that. But if they can't, I still think there's a chance they move Amare.

Hmm... would it worth the Wolves time to throw the Suns a payroll-cutting deal that doesn't cost them one of their big guys?

I've liked Richardson since his Warrior days... underrated team player, good shooter who I think you could play as a 3 on the other wing from Foye. I think the Suns do this in a heartbeat, move the cheaper Barnes into the starting lineup, see if McCants can play a little for them off the bench.

For just expirings, would you do it from the Wolves' standpoint? I know I've been pimping a PG/C addition for the Woofies, but you have to admit that with Jefferson out they could use Richardson's scoring ability...

It's a HUGE talent upgrade, but god that 14.4mil salary due in 2010-2011 is ugly. I really like Jason Richardson as well. It's straight expiring contracts, if we could sneak Brian Cardinal in there, I'd love it.

No way. Amare and Barbosa were great in D'Antoni's system. Wouldn't be so great playing for McHale, who wants to play inside-out. Besides, Amare would leave MN after 2009.

Amare can be signed to an extension, and Bosh can't until June.

However, Amare will use that as leverage to nix a deal to any team he doesn't want to go to. I really don't think he'd want to come here, and on the other hand, I don't think he'd do as well here anyway.

...which probably had more to do with the Clippers' lack of quality bigs and general crappiness. But I think it's interesting to note that if the Suns go back to their run-and-gun ways, Richardson and Shaq are the current Suns who lack correlaries to the D'Antoni Suns. Nash, Stoudemire and Barbosa are all obviously playing the same roles under Gentry that they did under D'Antoni. The other roster correlaries:

Hill - Diaw (ball handling forwards)
Barnes - Bell (defensive-minded swingmen)
Amundson - Marion (a VERY poor man's Marion, but does many of the same things)

Obviously they'd rather keep Shaq if they can... I think if you look at the players needed to play uptempo and their cost, Richardson, not Stoudemire, is the guy they'd want to move.

The more I think about it, the more I think the Suns should send a 1st rounder the Wolves way as well. I don't think the Suns would want Cardinal; they want to get under the lux next year. So it would pretty much have to be Collins, McCants, Booth and Ollie for Richardson and a 1st. I think I'd do that from the Wolves' side.

But seriously, looking at the box score, that's a coaches dream. Win by 40, no one plays more than 28 minutes, out rebound them 58-21, 13 more assists, shoot 62% from the field and best them from the FT line by 9-14. I think it's hilarious that Robin Lopez was -6 as the only Sun in negative +/-. Is that a sign he sucks. But I think you nailed it, the game was more about the Clippers lack of size, no post play at all, the return to SSOL under Gentry, the players feeling like the cuffs are off now that Porter's gone, and just general relaxation and fun again.

I think it has NOTHING to do with Richardson not playing.

But like I said, that 14mil due in 2010-11 is UGLY and scares me off the deal.
