Trade Proposal for Boozer
Hey guys, I don't know where Utah stands with Boozer except that we know he will opt-out. With Milsap being a FA, it may not make sense to pay 20+ million for both of them. So here is a trade proposal from Cleveland for Carlos Boozer..
Cleveland Trades
-JJ Hickson
-Anderson Varejao
-Eric Snow
-2009 1st round pick
Utah Trades
-Carlos Boozer
-Matt Harpring
I tossed Harpring in there because I thought your owner may be interested in dumping him for salary relief. If Harpring's contract is not viewed as a negative then we can switch things around.
But Utah is gets some nice parts in exchange for a player (Boozer) that may bolt in the off-season. Hickson is a really impressive rookie PF that has tons of upside. Utah has been good with late-round picks (Milsap) so they could probably find a nice rotation player with Cleveland's first. And Anderson Varejao gives you guys some interior toughness and rebounding. Eric Snow is on disability and will be better than an expiring contract as he saves more money in the short-term.
Again, if this is an insulting offer then I am sorry. I just don't know where Utah is right now with Boozer.

Re: Trade Proposal for Boozer
The Jazz would probably look at this very carefully. But why would Cav's believe Boozer would do anything but opt out and just become a free agent?

Re: Trade Proposal for Boozer
Well Cleveland would get his Bird rights and they could re-sign him with that. A Boozer and Mo Williams foundation would make it very tough for LeBron to leave in 2 years, and IMO adding Boozer would make us favorites for the title this year (if he is healthy for the playoffs) and next year.
And we could take on the extra salary for 1 year because in 2010 we will see about $25,000,000 worth of contracts just expire. Cleveland doesn't have much tied up in contracts beyond next year.

I couldn't image Cleveland doing this, not because its a bad trade (it's not) I just couldn't even see Booz back in Cleveland...Talk about awkward.

I think that will be difficult to see Boozer with the Cavs...
Varejao shoul be perfect for the our interior defense but is a FA or not...?

Re: Trade Proposal for Boozer
Hmm, I wouldn't mind this, considering we'd have 2 first round picks next year, we get a rookie PF who could help us fill the void of a back up PF if Boozer parts, as well as Varajeo who even has an expiring contract so we can decide to keep him or let him go to alleviate resigning Okur and Millsap. Snow is obviously there as an expiring player to match up salaries.
This is the kind of deal to accept to get something in return without actually taking in equal salaries.

Re: Trade Proposal for Boozer
Well as far as Cleveland goes...
1. Franchise is completely different. There is a new owner, a new GM, a new coach, etc.
2. The players like Boozer. Booz was a teammate of LeBron's during the Olympics. LeBron never had a problem. Plus Boozer helps us win...and nobody in Cleveland's locker will be upset with that.
The fans may be different, but imo once we start winning then everything will be forgotten. Boozer fills a hole for us and he is young enough to build with. It makes too much basketball sense. I would personally LOVE for it to happen.

Even if he bolts this season, how much do you guys loose? You'll have money to sign a big time player, and I think if the Cavs could get Boozer for this cheap they would definitely up their chances for a title. Imagine Big Z, Boozer, James and Williams! That's a hell of a team!

Sorry, but the Cavs say no. The Cavs refused to even make this exact offer for STAT, they DEFINITELY wouldn't make it for Boozer.

Re: Trade Proposal for Boozer
Sounds like it.
This is a huge win for Cleveland, if they refuses to do it they are idiots. Worst case scenario they are basically trading Hickson and their late 1st this year for a huge lift to their championship hopes. Best case, they get Boozer's now in return for a "maybe" future from Hickson and a nearly worthless late first rounder that has an 80%+ chance to bust completely.
Cleveland is the clear winner in this deal, but this is actually something the Jazz might consider. The only way we would do it is if management was taking the approach that they expected to lose Carlos anyway, and thus wanted to simply get whatever they could in the meantime.
I like the idea of Varejao and his hustle and D on the interior. I also like the potential for Hickson to be a player down the road. A Hickson and Koufos frontcourt might actually be a great, great fit together, if they both become the players they are capable of being.
All in all, its a huge loss talent wise for the Jazz, but offers financial flexibility and savings while not completely losing a highly valuable asset in return for nothing. One of the best offers I've seen out there.

They did? Well that was a dumb move, then again the Cavs allowed Boozer to become a free agent instead of signing him for a 3rd year for dirt cheap, and of all guys signed Hughes to a HUGE contract.

Re: Trade Proposal for Boozer
1) Varejo is just what the Jazz needs ... a super committed defender for the interior that doesn't need touches on the offensive end ... except the ones he rebounds for himself. He is really impressive and I'd be surprised to see the Cavs give him up.
2) I don't think Booz to Cleveland would be a problem for fans for more than a week. If King James put his arm around Carlos and gave him a public blessing, that would be that. I do know they get along very well.

Don't be so sure.
A few months ago I think it was all but written in stone, but now there are other variables that have come into play.
If you take into account his injury concerns combined with the fact that right now a lot of teams are watching their money very carefully, don't be too surprised if he decides to play out his contract.

You've got to be kidding me! Some of you would actually take this **** for Boozer?! I'm just glad you're not our GM; this offer is ridiculous.

Chad Ford speculates that Cleveland and Utah would be a good match. Cleveland is burning the phone lines looking for a talented PF and Ford said that Boozer is available.
I think it would make sense for both teams assuming Utah is ok with the idea of moving on from Boozer in the off-season. It is a safe move for Utah and Cleveland would hit a freaking HR. LeBron-Boozer-Mo would be an amazing trio.

Boozer in Cleveland. Seems like a smooth transition for all parties. Oh, wait.
